Hello could you please help?

Dear Sir, I saw you posting in the message board, and would like to ask for your help. I am using redhat 7.l and ASUS P4S333 motherboard, which has a LAN card on board. I just can't successfully "insmod". Everytime when I "insmod sis900", it just said "No such device" I think for RedHat 7.1, the kernel is new enough not to compile the sis driver into itself, right? It seems i have missed a lot from not being there on the list. I would be very grate ful if you could help me with the following issues. We have setup a linux diskless lab in our college consisting of 150 diskless terminals (with remote booting ) and 2 servers.( we did in around 2 months including the cabling and the physical connections. It took lots of trial and error to set it up). We are facing some problems getting a suitable 8086 emulator for linux (I tried pcemu but could not <make> it without errors). Also there are problems in procuring a cobol compiler. (we are using a tinycobol compiler currently but it is not good enough as it does not support all the features of the lang). Could you help us in this regard?

How can I make an alias say del which when used will move file(s)/folder(s) to $HOME/.trash ? i.e. when I type $del foo foo should be moved to $HOME/.trash Please guide. -- "You don't get to be mom if you can't fix everything just right." -Calvin

Hi!, I am trying to setup rsh and rsync for remote backup but I m not able to set rsh which from various sources I have came to know that there is one file called .rhosts where is it ?? in redhat 7.1 is there some global file or some user specific file and if at all I want to telnet as root directly NOT WITH "su -l root" what to do I would like to setup up rsh from particular machine so that I would be able to login without password, and this a version specific I m using RH 7.1 Hiten. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Why is Unix still used?

What is the purpose of using Unix in todays scenario when we have Linux? AFAIK UNIX is great in SMP (100s of processors if I'm not wrong) but Linux lags behind by a long way (8-10 processors AFAIK). fetching mail directly to PC

Is it possible to receive email directly to my PC if I have a static IP address (cable net)? i.e. without using yahoo or my isp. I plan to keep my PC powered on all the time. If I can send mail without externel smtp server of isp or yahoo etc. (with the help of sendmail) I should also be able to receive mail right?
