Postfix+LDAP+Maildrop error Invalid user specified

Hello, I am using Postfix+Squirrelmail+OpenLDAP+Courier-IMAP and Spamassassin setup all domains on this server are virtual and whenever we receive spam mail Spamassassin detects that as spam and adds ******SPAM****** in the subject line as i have configured and send mail to recipient. now I want to all spam mails which are marked YES by Spamassassin while mail filtering as spam should go to the "Spam" folder under /home/vmail/domains/virtualdomain/user/.Spam ( /home/vmail/domains/virtualdomain/user/Maildir/.Spam -- path depends upon the setup ) as per my information we have to use maildrop to do all filtering, then i can use .mailfilter file to filter every mail whether it is for local or virtual domain so i installed maildrop from source by passing neccessary parameter to it like LDAP support etc. as per the documentation and configured maildrop in /etc/postfix/master.cf (even i tried mailbox_command = /usr/local/maildrop/bin/maildrop still same error) and reloaded postfix but after that i am getting following error "relay=maildrop, delay=0, status=bounced (user unknown. Command B> output: Invalid user specified. )" all virtual users are working perfect if i dont use maildrop as a MDA. I can also add that the error is "Invalid user specified." if I run "maildrop -d virtualdomain.com" as a root account virtualdomain.com is in Base exists. May be maildrop not interacting with LDAP to get the user information or IMAP is not getting either. I want to get maildrop working for moving spam mails to .Spam folder. My current setup is as follows : Fedora core 1 Postfix postfix-2.0.19.tar.gz Courier-IMAP - courier-imap-3.0.2-1.1 Squirrelmail - squirrelmail-1.4.2-1 OpenLDAP - openldap-2.1.22-8 Maildrop I highly appriciate if someone could beam up light on this. hi folks, Has anyone tried the QUEUE_EXTRA or QUEUE_EXTRALEN options in qmail to keep a copy of all incoming/outgoing messages? I wanted to know how it works when I'm using qmail with maildir format, how i can search and retrieve emails etc. What happens to attachments? problem with nfs in knoppix

I m using knoppix-cd on one comp and fedora on other comp. I use nfs to mount partitions on my fedora comp to knoppix. but nfs mounting which takes only fraction of seconds in fedora/redhat 9 takes about 5-10 minutes in knoppix and once mounted it works just fine.. I had started services nfs-common nfs-kernel and portmap on knoppix I have also tried stopping firewall on fedora but same problem. Please Help... Regards, Chirag

Hello ppl, can any1 pls. guide me on config. of Domino Server 6= .5 on RHL9.0 I have successfully installed it. We do NOT want to run into problems later on with, say, the income tax authorities or their kin. What is normally done under such circumstances? Do we have to register our group with some authority in order to collect money? What do other LUG's do? I am sure there are precedents to this problem. Please advise. Corrupted kernel

Hi, Someone corrupted my libc.so file and linux now refuses to boot, giving a kernel panic. the kernel kills the init process!!! Now I wish to reinstall glibc. The problem is I have no CD drive attached to the machine. I have a floppy drive though. And the "pseudo-corrupted" kernel is the only kernel on the machine. the machine is attached to a network. Is there anyway I can boot into the machine in rescue mode using floppies? The boot images in the CD are installation ones. and other boot images of other machines won't work because it again runs init which contacts libc.so file. Thanks, -- Goldwyn :o)

I have setup Postfix+LDAP+Courier-IMAP+Squirrelmail to support virtual users PCQLinux 2004 (Fedora core 1) Postfix installed from source code - postfix-2.0.19.tar.gz Courier-IMAP - courier-imap-3.0.2-1.1 Squirrelmail - squirrelmail-1.4.2-1 rpm installation OpenLDAP - openldap-2.1.22-8 Jamm - jamm-0.9.6 procmail-3.22-11 ( I want to use maildrop instead for filtering and quota capabilities ) I have successfully configured Mail Server for virtual users and its working nice, now i want to do some improvements to existing setup like : Quarantine - System-blocked mail should be filtered into a mail folder called "Suspicious" that can be reviewed by a user. The messages should be deleted automatically after few days. Collaborative filtering (share heuristic rules/blacklists with other mail servers, something on the lines of Blade.) How is Vipuls Razor? If i use Spamassassin i think it is possible to mark suspicious email as *******SUSPECTED SPAM********** in the subject line and can move that mail to spam folder. I want to know is there any free anti-virus available to use with Postfix. For this to work properly i think maildrop needs to be configured to filter mails, i am looking for guidelines to do it. Hi All, My current setup is as follows : PCQLinux 2004 (Fedora core 1) Postfix installed from source code - postfix-2.0.19.tar.gz Courier-IMAP - courier-imap-3.0.2-1.1 Squirrelmail - squirrelmail-1.4.2-1 rpm installation OpenLDAP - openldap-2.1.22-8 Jamm - jamm-0.9.6 procmail-3.22-11 ( I am useing maildrop instead ) To install above i have used following link and done as per the documentation : http://jamm.sourceforge.net/howto/html/index.html I have successfully configured Mail Server for virtual users and its working nice. I want to add disk quota functionality so that when the user logs in he can able to see his/her quota consumption through squirrelmail ( all users have squirrelmail access to check mails no shell account). I have installed squirrelmail disk quota plugin to do this. I was instructed to use following links to do so but i found those are not enough to have disk quota enabled for virtual users 1) http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html 2) http://www.squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=125 on above 1) link i couldnt understood where i have to specify "| /usr/local/bin/deliverquota ./Maildir 1000000S" ( may be in main.cf ( home_mailbox )) in postfix or somewhere else because the example shown there is for qmail. I have Squirrelmail configured plugin using conf.pl 8 > and choosing plugin noto activated in my case 17 > s > q I have compiled and installed maildrop (maildrop-1.6.3 ) with following options "./configure --prefix=/usr/local/maildrop --exec-prefix=/usr/local/maildrop --enable-maildirquota --enable-maildrop-uid=root --enable-maildrop-gid=mail --enable-restricted-trusted=0 --enable-trusted-users='mail' --enable-maildropldap --with-ldapconfig=/etc/maildrop/maildropldap.config --with-etcdir=/etc/maildrop" make make install-strip make install-man after compiling and installing maildrop it was suppose to create /etc/maildrop folder and put "maildropldap.config" file into but it didnt, so i did tried compiling, installing maildrop twice but it didnt worked, i created "/etc/maildrop/maildropldap.config" manually but still no use. I want to enable mail quota per user basis for all virtual accounts by using maildrop. I have used maildrop and done some configurations and able to send mails to local users thru another local users but i am not able to send mails to virtual users (user(a)domain.tld) message gets bounced and i get an error in maillog ( "Apr 4 20:20:02 domain2 postfix/pipe[10498]: 4B72316F8F8: to=<name(a)domain.tld>, relay=maildrop, delay=0, status=bounced (user unknown. GPG key servers

Greetings, If I generate a yearly gpg key and upload it to one of the public key servers, do the keys get deleted once the period of the time key is over? I already have 2 permenant keys uploaded to the servers and dont want to upload any more permenant keys since they waste resources if they stay for ever. Thanks in advance. Regards.

Hi all, I am doing one R&D and need ur expert help. I have installed and configured PHP-Nuke for our local Intranet, which works very well in my LAN. I also have a modem configured on the same pc, i have a dial-up account with which i connect to the internet. Now after connecting to my ISP i get an IP address, so using the same ip i want to access the intranet from outside world. *** I know that i always have to check the ip address, but that's fine *** Using the ip which i got from my ISP, from my LAN i am able to browse my intranet. I have tried configuring iptables to allow incoming connections on port 80, but i didn't succeed. Please if anyone could help me resolv this issue. Thanking you, Regards, Rajendra Rait.

Hi All Can any one just go through this help me? Aim: To almost double bandwidth by using two dial up modems connected to two DIFFERENT accounts on the SAME ISP. Configuration: 1) 56K Internal Modem. 2) 56K External Modem. 3) PCQ Linux ISP: MTNL/VSNL. Have 2 phone lines under the mtnl unlimited scheme. Would like to team the two to increase my bandwidth. I have tried Multilinking (using same ISP, same Account with WinXP) and it works, but this is NOT what I want. My DNS server and 2 zones allow-update is not working in named.custom it gives error. and if i put allow-update in then named.conf file only one zone is updated Dynamically Please guide,. Execute binaries from vfat partition.

Greetings, I was doing an experiment and realized that I cannot execute binaries stored on my vfat partition. The file is owned by the user and have a 755 permission. The /etc/fstab file has "defaults,uid=500,gid=100,users" as the options. "man mount" says the defaults has exec as an option. Any clues how to execute binaries stored on vfat partition? Dynamic Address Mapping/Translation

Hi All, We are trying a project with DAM/DAT(Dynamic Address Mapping/Translation) support for linux. The machine should accept any preconfigured systems on the lan side and route them to the WAN (second ethernet port) like NAT. The LAN machines shouldnt be in the same network range (subnet) like the router/DAM machine, but they need to get internet access. Is there a way to implement a mechanism in linux for mapping those (ip- unknown) clients: for example: [ 192.168.1.200 ] \\ [ 10.100.54.7 ] => [ DAM machine LAN side || WAN side PPPoE ] => { Internet } [ 192.168.0.5 ] // All nodes are direct connected via ethernet. Any solutions ? Someone told me earlier theres a way for that to be done with MAC address routing instead of TCP/IP routing. But i didnt find any solutions about Layer2 to Layer3 Routing except any tunnels (or netbios etc). Thanks. Rukman Naik.

Hi All, Let us have a slug fest in our next GLUG meet. The War of Words with fun and knowledge. I have few topics in mind. 1. Emacs v/s. Vi 2. KDE v/s. GNOME v/s. other WMs 3. GUI v/s. CLI 4. Postfix v/s. Qmail v/s. sendmail v/s. Exim 5. Pine v/s. Mutt v/s. Evolution v/s. Mozilla Mail If you have more, please add to this list. To start with we can go in for the 1st. Here is how we will go about this. 1. We will create 2 teams of 5 participants each. (Send your name for any of the team. This is your chance to show of your knowledge about your favourite editor and defend it.) 2. If we receive more then 5 names for each team, we will select 5 from all based on some criteria. 3. In the GLUG meet, each team will ask the opponents 10 questions or things to do/accomplish with their editor. The defending team has to answer / accept the challenge. 4. Audience will ask 5 questions to each team. 5. The highest scoring team will be winner of the War of the Words. 6. Names of the judges will be announced shortly. We need sponsors for giving out goodies to winning team. Also to encourage participation, two best questions / challenges from the audience will also get some gift. Dear Friends, I remember that there was a discussion some months back -- something about wanting docs for RHCE. Well I have a four PDF Docs on The Essential Command Line a.k.a The Linux Commands Primer by Mr N Deepak ( www.ndeepak.info). It is released under the GNU Free Documentation License. The original docs were in a zipped text format. I copied them to The OpenOffice.org Writer and exported them to PDFs. I am attaching them as the folowing four files- 1) 1-intro.pdf 2) 2-imp_cmds.pdf 3) 3-advanced 4) 4-vi-emacs.pdf I am sure this will also be useful to all those who want to seriously master the command line & for RHCE preparations. my program downloads a 20mb file and then copies it to a file in some other folder. Now when i copy...i.e when i try to read from this downloaded file n = read(fd,buff,sizeof(buff)); n is always 1 even though the buffer size is different. i want my copy to be fast and not 1 byte at a time. Both combine to implement a simple calendar program that help you keep track of the events. Extremely useful in the real world of work... The first script, *addagenda*, enables you to specify either recurring or one-time events. All dates are validated and saved, along with one-line event description, in an *.agenda* file in your home directory. For its part, the second script, *agenda*, checks all known events, showing which are scheduled for the current date. Useful for remembering birthdays, events, appointments, schedules. HOW IT WORKS: Weekly, annual and one-time events are accepted. As entries are added to the agenda file, their specified dates are 'normalized' and compressed so that 3 April becomes 3Apr, and Thursday becomes Thu. The *agenda* script checks for events by taking the current date and transforming it into three possible date string formats. It then simply compares each of these date strings to each line in the *.agenda* data file. This script, writes Dave Taylor, just "scratches the surface of this complex and interesting topic". It would be nice to have a look a few days ahead. This script could be used on a *nix box to send out systemwide reminders. Imagine newspaper reporters getting a reminder of what's on the schedule on that day. Simply have the *agenda* script on each user's machine point to a shared read-only .*agenda* file, and then add a call to the agenda script in each user's *.login* or similar file. These slim volumes are a refreshing departure from the "bigger is better" norm among computer book publishers, most of whom use large fonts, out-of-date excerpts from the Linux Documentation Project How-Tos, and of course a CD or two in the back to amass reference tomes more impressive in bulk than in content or organization. As an editor myself, I understand the value of organizing and condensing information. Hello Luggers, My query is withe respect to JAVA Native Interfcae (JNI) on Linux A JNI call is an inproc or outproc call? My thought: Its an inproc call. Any java application has at least one instance of JVM (a process). All the java byte code would be executed using functions in libjvm.so and other helper shared libs. A System.loadLibrary() call will invoke some func in libjvm.so (or other helper) and do the task of making the said library available to the current JVM (I.e. the .so will be loaded in JVM process 's address space) Thus a native method call would be an inprocess call. U mentioned site works with wget and browser, i am confused where u dont get this site, at the server or the clients, and how do u check the availability of the sites, i presume one use a browser to check it. Traceroute may not always work at icmp etc. are blocked or droped on many sites, u want even be able to ping them. The best way to get to know about these sites and this problem is try the command dig www.samachar.com on linux or on Win NT nslookup www.sify.com Regards Yayati. IP / QoS Question

Hello, I am trying to find information on how I can set a priority flag in the ToS field of an IP packet in Linux. I was reading a DLink document, which mentioned that new NIC cards have this capability to enable QoS on networks. However, I was unable to google any info on how to do this in Linux using ioctl / socket API calls (???) at the application level. I am new to all this, so I am quite sure I am not looking in the right places :-( Thanks for any pointer. Regards Shahed.

Just type this on the gateway console # tcpdump you must be using a dual homed machine as your gateway not quite a efficient method BUT generally helps in finding which PC has a network virus or a trojan.... you'll see the affected machine ip just filling up your screen. If its a windows machine, just download sygate personal firewall available on download.com, its a freeware on the affected machine, check the applications that are accessing network resources using SPF, you'll definitely find the trojan.... Pramila , Why don't you check your mount point of all filesystems in /etc/fstab file . I use knoppix 3.3 and this where i came to know about mount point of hard disk,cd,floppy. You can try the following command. to mount any filesystem mount filesystem path name and then to check its contents cd /file-system path name Yahoo! Problems with the 2.6 kernel?

Hi, I have been having a few problems with the 2.6.4 kernel. => INIT: Id "3" respawning too fast : disabled for 5 minutes At this moment I had just logged off from console 3, but it was just hung there... the login prompt didn't come on. References to this error on the net date back to 2002, no new ones. And all of them speak of program bug. But no recent references, so I'm stuck with it right now. => atkbd.c: Keyboard on isa0060/serio0 reports too many keys pressed Happens sometimes when I press C-x C-s to save my files in emacs. Doesn't happen all the time though. Also, its not the hard error that has been referred to on quite a few forums. Its an informative error that just goes away after screwing up the console for you. Especially irritating when working on a curses based interface. => The system slows down and goes for a stroll like as if it were windows. Happens generally when I have around 4-5 instances of Mozilla Firebird open along with applications like gxine and/or Evolution or dpkg running in the backround (in short, some of the heavy stuff). Earlier version of the kernel I had (2.6.0) would handle almost 3-4 times the load much more efficiently. I'm running a 500MHz Celeron with 192 MB RAM and 10 GB HDD (4.5GB for Linux and 128MB swap) I just wanna know if its something to do with my compile options or my hardware (keyboard all messed up?) or its just the bugs in the kernel. LDAP authentication problem

I am trying to setup user authentication thru a LDAP directory on my SUSE LINUX 9.0 box. I have set up a openldap server and added a few users. I have also configured pam_ldap & nss_ldap module so that I can use LDAP to authenticate unix users. however I am now unable to logon onto my machine. my passwd is accepted but i am again prompted for login & password. I am also not able to login as root. I would appreciate any help. dear friends, I have an intel machine pentium 4 . I had installed knoppix 3.3 on my machine . Yesterday i reinstallled my machine with Windows Me. But after doing this the lilo dosen't appears on the screen and i am directly being sent to windows Me.How do i solve this problem ? I thought of making a bootable disk of linux from windows but i am unable to get the required information as to from where should i get the bootable file or how should i make linux bootable disk in my windows Me operating system .Plz if anybody knows it . Why linux operates my H/D at 33MHz PIO????? :-(

hi, i use RH9 and Fedora core1 as OS with grub as os loader. both of this uses my ATA 1333 compatible H/D as 33PIO by default. i am changing it to 66MHz manually every time i boot the M/c by issuing " idebus=66" command at the grub prompt. pls give me the permanent solution for this!!! I am doing linux network progarming in C++ and QT right now. can some one help me by explaining me how can i integrate C++ and QT so that i can pass values/strings comming to my over the network can be passed to the QT forms and strings of the QT forms from textbox cab be passed on the network on the packets!! pls. give me some good references to the sites where i can find good QT and C++ integration examples. thanx -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Choose from over 50 domains or use your own

Speeding up Linux adoption

Dear all, I am writing a note on detailing Free/Open source projects that can speed up the adoption of Linux and would like to hear from the list members on this subject. I would like to create a sharply defined list of say, ten specific problems which students from engineering colleges can be asked to solve. Ideally, these problems should be solvable by a group of people within 3-6 months so that these students can achieve a tangible goal. Some of the suggestions I have received so far have been interesting. These include: * Developing an open source tool like VM Ware that can run both Windows and Linux off the same CPU * Developing an open source VoIP product like Skype * Getting Internet Explorer working (natively?) on Linux (This will be of particular help in increasing the penetration of Linux in banks since many banking applications, though browser based, are optimized to work on Linux) * Reverse engineering Tally file formats and developing an open source financial accounting package (or getting Tally to work--natively--under Linux) * Developing translation mechanisms for converting Internet content from English to Indian languages and from one Indian language to another * Developing tools like Ximian Connector to connect to Micosoft Exchange server etc. If anyone can add to this list, I shall be grateful.
