I'am sorry if my explanation is completely illogical...but this is what I figured out ........pls inform me if my notion is completely wrong..... In a system like Windoze ---->DLL--->EXE (RAM)---->Compiled but no check for size of compiled output. In GNU/Linux OS ---->object/.so----->binary/daemon(RAM)---->Compiled and checked for size of compiled o/p. And as for shell scripts, and rpm's which we blindly execute sometimes........pls do a md5 verification to check for trusted signatures........ Because GNU/Linux systems are not written by MS guys who simply execute any file just because it pretended its content-type to be an audio file. In my opinion MS always had policy to make system more user-friendly(trying to auto-play a sound file for user) at cost of security(and executing exe instead). This bug and so many other bugs are so obvious(assuming MS has good developers!) that sometimes I feel they are kept on purpose, so that they can ask user to upgrade to their new OS/apps claiming to be MORE safe. In my opinion MS always had policy to make system more user-friendly(trying to auto-play a sound file for user) at cost of security(and executing exe instead). This bug and so many other bugs are so obvious(assuming MS has good developers!) that sometimes I feel they are kept on purpose, so that they can ask user to upgrade to their new OS/apps claiming to be MORE safe. Unable to boot the upgraded kernel

Hi, I have fedora core 1 on my computer, recently I updated the kernel from 2.4.22-1.2115.nptlsmp to 2.4.22-1.2149.nptlsmp through yum from redhat update site. After the update I am not able to boot the new kernel. The older kernel boots without any problem. The machine gives a kernel panic, with the last few lines of the display as follows: Mounting /proc filesystem Creating block devices Creating root device mkrootdev: label / not found Mounting root filesystem mount: error 2 mounting ext3 pivotroot: pivot_root (/sysroot, /sysroot/initrd) failed: 2 umount /initrd/proc failed: 2 freeing unused kernel memory: 164k freed kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. I have a Intel 865GBF Motherboard with Pentium 4 2.6HT processor 2Gb DDR SD RAM and a 120 MB SATA drive ST3120026AS and PATA ST380011A hard disks. I boot from the sata drive /dev/sda Please give me some pointers to look into to rectify the problem. Please also indicate if more information is required to diagnose the problem. Hi Abhir, Just a suggestions. In the time you searched, posted e-mail, replied to replies, you could have written the reader/parser library yourself. Get More RAM (since lower ram = more swap file usage = slower / inefficient performance) d. Recomend use of less resource hungary software (galeon instead of mozilla) e. Do not fully shut off software that you are going to use again and again (eg, minimise mozilla instead of closing it when you finish looking at a webpage) An additional point I guess we can also make here is that in MS Windows XP also, most software takes time to open. Outlook express takes more than 20 seconds (and massive HDD Access) to open and MSOffice XP is much worse. We can not compare a PC running Win98 to RedHat9. That comparison does not make sense. [snip] Talking of the preloader of mozilla in Windows, can we have a *generalized* pre-loader in linux ?? I would say it wouldn't be too difficult to write a daemon that preloads stuff and keeps general statistics as to which executable/library is used the most. This would increase the booting time by little but the net result should be quite surprising in my opinion. IE starts so fast in windows is because just about everything that it requires is preloaded when windows boots. On the other hand most of the stuff that mozilla needs is loaded when it is started. X configuration

hi, i am running rh9.0 in runlevel 5. kde is the default window manager. many times during boot, the graphics are not loaded. the services turn on, after which the text prompt is shown. the next step is to get a graphical login. but often the graphics get scrambled. i get a few vertical lines flashing like in X configuration and then need to reboot. but mostly gui mode starts up without any errors with proper colors, mouse etc. why does X not load sometimes? i have an onboard intel extreme graphics card on an intel 845 gbv motherboard. as i mentioned earlier mostly X and kde run smoothly. thanks rahul

Your problem seems not to be a generally observed phenomenon. man! i am not complaining about the hdd access my system does.... mine is a RHL8.0 on a P3-933 mhz, with 128MB SD RAM, the hard disk also runs at 5400 something RPM... swap alloted is half GB, i've seen hdd access right from the days i had RHL6.0, then 7.1 and now 8.0... I've always chosen to do a full installation off the CDs, just to taste everything that's inside... Agreed i have many services running, I just turn it on to work with it... telnetting into smtp/ftp/telnet servers... I think the people here are comparing the hdd access of M$ windows with gnu/linux... Windows loads all the configuration settings (Registry) into the RAM at startup, whereas gnu/linux apps have to read the config files the first time they start (am just speculating a reason)...also many services report their errors to the root's mailbox... These might be one of the many reasons of unexpected hdd access... Is my justification correct???

One of our clients is looking for AMC of Linux machines. Following are the requirements, please email me if for numbers. -Krishna 1)Support required at Nariman Point 2) We have one server and one fire wall working on Linux. We need support for both (only software part). The hardware is currently being maintained by another vendor under annual maintenance. 3) We have about 8 clients (we plan to add 3 more) which should be able to access the server files, internet, email and fax. 4) The vendor will be responsible for keeping the systems working, for change of security features, user details, and other minor modifications. 5) Our turn around time will depend on urgency of matter. For example fornetwork problem / break down we would expect an enginer at the earliest (maximum downtime 2 hours). For all other matters we can wait 24 - 36 hours. Please give us an indication about your setup (preferbly a small write up). In case anyone wish to look at the current setup they may visit client's office during working hours anyday in order to have a clearer picture.

Problem with setting hostname.

Hi Linuxers, I am new to Red Hat Linux 9, i have an fresh installation, my problem is that i want to change the hostname of my choice, i have tried going to /etc/sysconfig/network and try changing, but it doesn't work. Somebody said me to give the command "declare" and to check the environment variable "$HOSTNAME", i got my mistake, but now i want to change the variable value permanently, how do i do it. For setting the hostname, you could try using the 'hostname' command. I've tried this myself and it does'nt work. What I did in the end is set the '/etc/sysconfig/network' file to the new hostname And also the '/etc/hosts' file to the new hostname. Hi I got to know that there are non-free applications bundled along with Knoppix CD. Does anyone know if there is a variant of Knoppix? I figured it would be easier to just download and use / distribute that instead of removing the non-free packages from the Knoppix CD and creating one myself. It uses HTTP to log in to your account, get the inbox listing, and download messages along with attachments. Login name, password, and maximum message size can be specified through the interface or in the configuration file. It does not delete messages or look in folders other than Inbox. Caveats: The configuration file is called .gmcom.rc and is in your home directory. The program will prompt you to create it if it does not exist. The password is stored as plain text in the file, but the file's permissions are 0600 (-rw-------), so only you can read it. You may edit the file and delete any parameter from it. Also note that I've decided to stop releasing rpms. It made no sense since anyone using this library would have to build it as part of his own project anyway. Hi, I use Reliance phone thru a USB data cable to connect to the internet on my Red Hat 9 system. Recently I have upgraded to kernel 2.6.1. However now i cannot connect to internet via my Reliance phone. the script for the connection is: pppd /dev/ttyUSB0 230400 debug usepeerdns defaultroute connect '/usr/sbin/chat -v "" at+cta=30 OK "atdt#777" CONNECT' mtu 264. Also when i try to communicate with dev ttyUSB0 i get error : No such device I have built a monolithic kernel with UHCI support and USB serial support. Please Help

Do you need a swap at all? How much RAM do you have? The 2.4.x pre kernels might have had a logic for the swap = 2xRAM rule, but what now? Unless you are seriously short of RAM, and use a tonload of swap, there is no need to use a lot of swap. And if you really have that less RAM, then you should'ntbe complaining about "speed" issues. Also, for special purposes like suspend to disk/ACPI on laptops, you might have a case for swap = 2x ram. The installation howto was written when people used 4M-32M RAM, we've come a long way after that. Maybe the howto needs updation.

Hi Friends, I have just installed Red Hat 9, and I need help with some issues I have 2 harddisks hd0 is 80 GB and hd1 is 10 GB Linux is installed on hd1 partition 4 (Loads normally via grub) Win 98 on hd1 partition 0 primary partition Win XP on hd 0 partition 0 (Loads normally via grub) Grub is installed on hd0 1) I need to configure grub to load windows 98 which is on hd1 partition 0 I tried using the following commands in grub rootnoverify (hd1,0) / root(hd1,0) makeactive chainloader +1 The commands run successfully but it says "Non system disk, replace " whereas if I configure the bios to boot from this harddisk windows 98 boots normally. Is there an existing project to build a tcp util library? I mean one that will do the following: int tcp_connect(host, port); int tcp_connect_async(host, port, connect_callback, status_update_callback, callback_data); void tcp_connect_async_cancel(int id); int tcp_readline(fd, buff, maxlen); int tcp_writeline(fd, buff, nbytes); etc. I ask because if there isn't one already, I'd like to release ayttm's tcp library as a separate project that would be of use to others. I would also like to look at a separate library that does asynchronous dns lookups. It is important that none of these libraries use multiple threads, or any extra toolkit. QT and KDE tools issue

Hello, I am using QT version 3.1.1. My issue is whenever I use a KDE tool like KDateWidget,KLineEdit etc.. , I get segmentation fault while running the program. I included /usr/include/kde and used the library kdeui ( I manually added this into the Makefile created using qmake. Every time I create the Makefile ,I add these entries manually,then it compiles). I got no help from QT Manual. This is the error I am getting when I tried gdb. Hi luggers, I am using Mahitee Internet Service to connect to internet(cable net provider). I am currently using Red Hat 8.0, and I have done all the configurations required for ethernet card(eth0). Now after typing the login page url in the mozilla or konquerer. It shows me the login page and also allows me to login. But there after if I try to view any page like say google.com it shows alert window saying "[1]www.google.com unknown host". Can anybody help me with this? Anyone volunteering for WSF Event...

HeLLo Linuxers, I am a bit surprised that there is no discussion on WSF to be held in Goregaon from 15-22 Jan. According to Mr. Nagarjun of FSF-India There is going to be place called media centre in the event where approx. 150 0r so PCs will be running on FLOSS. The PCs will be used by Reporters from all over the world to communicate,etc. This is a nice chance to show the power of OSS to Mumbaites and the common man. A mail asking for volunteers had been sent by Mr. Nagarjun to this mailing list. I am sure all have read it. I being interested quickly subscribed to their Temo mailing list Wsf-volunteers(a)mm.gnu.org.in but for some strange reason the mailing list responds that my email has been pending for Moderators Approval. Time is ticking away and so are my dreams of volunteering for the event. And no one is even mentioning about the event. Has anyone else tried to volunteer? hi, i use RH9 which comes with kernel 2.4.x recently i tried installing kernel 2.6.x on the same while old kernel remaining intact. i don't have separete /boot partn. everything seemed to be proper while installation got over as i was reffering enough guidelines during installation. when i restarted my pc it diplayed me both options for kernel selection at boot prompt but it got hanged after i selected option for kernel 2.6. any help will be gr8full. pls reply me at yagneshchawda(a)rediffmail.com. thnx. stat64_t , off64_t problem

i am getting errors when i compile my program. it says stat64_t not declared. similar for off64_t and lseek64_t I have included both <sys/types.h> <sys/stat.h> and other headers. earlier i had a problem for uint64_t but i resolved it by including <stdint.h> do i need to include any other header files... or do anythig else.. pls help thankx. Linux as a router

Hi, I want to configure a Linux system as a router (u can say IP Forwarding). This system can be used to connect two different IP Address schemes & will work as a router. I've tried it with RedHat 8 & 9 also but no success. I've checked that service iptable is also not running. I've also enabled IP_FORWARD with echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward. I'm not able to ping or telnet to other side network. Any help is greatly appreciated. Amol

CDRecord writing speed

Hello All, I am using CDrecord software version 1.10 to write my CDs. I found that it writes the CD too slow. I am using Lite-on external USB CD-Writer. I explicitly specified the speed by using the speed option to 40x. But that doesn't help. I tried with the same media and writer on my Windows machine with similar configuration and it writes it much faster.(It took only 4 minutes on Windows but 11 minutes on Linux). Is it an issue with CDRecord ? Is there any other Cdrecording software on Linux that will write it faster ? -- Regards, Mohan Cheema

Yeap. It does require another parameter as kernel name: Correct command was /sbin/mkinitrd -f -v /boot/initrd-2.4.18-27.7.x.img 2.4.18-27.7.x After lots of googling i havent been able to come to any correct result yet. I have already tried removing initrd from grub.conf and it still does not work. Thanks for the help and any further help would be gr8. New Kernel installation problem

Hi Everyone, I have installed RHES 2.1 installed on my machine, which comes by default with kernel-2.4.9-e.24. It works well. I recently upgraded to kernel 2.4.18-27.7.x using kernel RPM as follows: rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.18-27.7.x.i686.rpm /sbin/mkinitrd -f -v /boot/initrd-2.4.18-27.7.x I am using grub as the bootloader and it has following configuration for booting into new kernel: title Red Hat Linux (2.4.18-27.7.x) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.18-27.7.x ro root=/dev/hda3 initrd /initrd-2.4.18-27.7.x.img When i boot into new kernel i get following error: pivotroot: pivot_root(/sysroot, /sysroot/initrd) failed: 2 Freeing unused kernel memory: 160k free Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. Thing to note. I can still boot to older kernel and works well. Any one any ideas what could be the problem in here? Any help on the matter will be appreciated. problem compiling GAIM with SSL support

I have downloaded gaim 0.74 and i want to use it for Yahoo and MSN. For compiling with SSL support i downloaded and installed the ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/security/nss/releases/NSS_3_8_RTM/src… nss packages as told in the FAQ of gaim. I want to get broadband internet access for my wife's parents in the Chembur/Kurla East area of Bombay. The idea is to get more bandwidth for communications like voice and webcam. While searching the net for info, I discovered this group and read the thread on Powersurfer. There was a lot of info hard to find elsewhere, such as the facts that average speeds can be 8-10 kbps, the back-end bandwidth is 2 mbps, and it can take months to get service after signing up because they need a minimum number of users in an area. So it looks like a good idea to start a discussion in this group on what's going on. If any of you have experience with broadband in Bombay, no matter whether cable, dsl, or wireless, I'd love to hear about it. For example, what average speeds are you getting? How reliable is the connection? What troubles did you have getting set up? How responsive is the customer service? How are the reputations of the various providers? Is it really superior to a dial-up connection? Are there other things you wish you knew before subscribing? Thanks in advance, Tom

Does mutt use localhost:25 or the sendmail binary to send the mail? I guess mutt cannot talk to SMTP directly. (correct me if I am wrong) If that is the case, how do I send my mail through vsnl's SMTP server? BLOCK SENDER NOT WORKING

Hi , I hv installed block sender plugin. But its not blocking mails. Actually when I saw README file of block sender I found following lines This plugin relies on the use of the procmail LDA. Within the plugin directory is a file called 'sqblock.rc'. This file contains a recipe that must be added to the global procmailrc file (usually located at /etc/procmailrc) along with variables that must be defined. The easiest way to do this is to simply include sqblock.rc in your global procmailrc file by adding a line such as this: INCLUDERC=/path/to/sqblock.rc This should be the first line of your global procmailrc file. So I added lines in my procmail rc as follows /INCLUDERC=/usr/share/squirrelmail/plugins/block_sender/sqblock.rc but still its not working. I know something is wronge somewhere but I cant find it out yet. Any suggestion? Waiting for your reply. Linux file permissions

Hello fellow linuxers, I am having some problem with Linux file permissions. It is simple but some how I am not able to arrive at a perfect solution. I am having four folders in another folder called 'departments'. They are 'sales','accounts','support' and 'management'. I want to accomplish the following objectives:- 1) All people can access 'departments' folder. 2) People belonging to a particular department have read/write access in their folder only. eg. sales people can read/write in sales folder etc. 3) People belonging to other departments cannot *see* into other departments folder. eg.support people cannot *see* anything in sales, accounts, management folder etc. 4) People belonging to 'management' can read/write into all folders. 5) People belonging to 'accounts' can *read* 'sales' folder . They cannot add/delete files. I know that I have to use usermod,groupmod,chmod,chown.chgrp commands. But I am not able to work out on what exact folder/file to work on. Iptables Query

Hi Problem 1] I am able to use IPTABLES for sharing Intenet and DNAT. The server used has a live IP and the code used to enable me to share Internet Access and DNAT to my internal server is iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -j MASQUERADE But as far as I understand MASQUERADE is used in case of Dynamic IPs and with Fixed or Live IP you can directly use DNAT and SNAT rules. But when I remove the above mentioned line I am not able to share Internet Access nor I am able to access internal servers from outside (DNAT). How to combine 2 mpeg videos on a GNU/Linux system?

Hi I'm trying to combine 2 mpeg videos. I thought the following would work: cat file1.mpg file2.mpg > final.mpg When I play the final.mpg it works fine till the second video starts and returns the following error on the screen libmpeg2: stream not demultiplexed ? I'm using XINE. I thought maybe what I need is a Video Editor for Linux and so found LVE on SourceForge but had problems compiling it.. This is the error I get qdir.cpp:10:26: qapplication.h: No such file or directory followed by a whole bunch of similar errors. I'm using a GNU/Linux system (Knoppix 3.2 - Debian). Anyone had any luck with making lve? One more thing ... the first video is 10 seconds long and does not contain any audio signal. Whereas the second video is a 32 minute video of RMS which is compressed big time since the file is only 53 MB. Regards Rishi

Long Mail! Hi, Summary: this note is to inform and seek your help for FSF Stall at the WSF Event, manage the Media Centre, and give any helping hand (time and money). Richard Stallman and several other leaders of Free software from Europe, Latin America will be visiting. We have a unique event to organize and witness in Mumbai this January, an international event called World Social Forum. Read more about it from http://www.wsfindia.org. Since the use of Swatantra Software (read free software) is concieved as an important social and ethical practice by the organizers of this event, which actually takes place every year at one place or other in the world, they have agreed to use only GNU/Linux in an important facility of the event called Media Centre. Media Centre is a place where all the journalists from all around the world who will visit the place to cover the event will be using the computers to send emails, exchange documents with their offices, compose articles etc. This Media Centre will be using exclusively GNU/Linux. An important occassion for all of us to celebrate! But, at the same time a very crucial responsibility. There will be 160 PC running GNU/Linux. We dont want to accept any failures. All the journalists who will be coming there are NOT GNU/linux users. At most they know how to use a desktop. So we will provide them with the best of what GNU/Linux provides with best office software, and a few of the communication tools they need to work. These PC are required to be internationalized so that they could with a touch of a button could be able to use different keyboards. It is expected most people will be using French, Spanish, German and English. Several East Europian and Asian friends are also expected. We should install, test, and maintain all the machines before they are deployed for ten days, the actual event is from 16th to 22nd January. Media Centre should begin functioning from 15th afternoon to 23rd morning. There is another facility where online translation of the speaches will be provided. The people who want translation will be using a radio, sets will be provided, and an FM station will be setup for this purpose. Even for this hitech event the organizers have chosen to use GNU/Linux. FSF Europe and others are helping this to happen. FSF India Stall: At this stall we will have people telling and distributing information, and other goodies if any to the visitors. Richard Stallman will be there all the six days in Mumbai and he will be giving around 4-5 speaches and will be participating in several round table meetings. Our repsonsibility is to provide enough volunteers who know GNU/linux Desktop well to help the journalists and other important visitors to use the computers at the Media Centre. So, please try to volunteer to support this event and take up a responsibility. Since the media centre is required to be running 24 hours, we need to do a shift system so that we are always there to help. We need to people who would like to help the users to do their tasks, such as sending mails, printing documents, saving files, making CDs when they leave, composing documents, spell checking, setting the language options, providing internet facility etc. The technical skills needed are not very high. More than general familiarity to GNU/linux is enough. The PC will have either GNOME or KDE installed. We also need some experts around to trouble shoot and fix installation related problems. We need about 40 volunteeers in all, with about 15 people to be there during the day time on any day. Let me remind the dates are 15th to 22nd. Installation will team however will start the work by 12th morning. BTW, the venue is National Stock Exchange grounds Goregaon. We cant get a better opportunity to show case to the world that Swatantra Software is mature and will meet the IT aspirations of people. Hello Friends... This is my 1st post. so plz be kind if I did any wrong :-) I have VIA 8233 board I heard 1st sound when I used mandrek 9.2, RH 9.0 (which came along DIGIT). I think mandrek is more cool... (it's my op.) But DIGIT gave only CD-1 other 2 r missing... In mandrek 8.0 they have option at install time...But...mandrek "devloped" 9.2 so good............ Lastly "plz anyone of u folks can kindly give/distribute those CD's i tried knoppix 3.2 but it has no sound supprt/dma support /SVGA support ..ah...VIA8233... knoppix 3.3 would be nice..." Unable to NAT

Hi All I an trying to share internet access using NAT. On the server side I have set ip_forward to 1 and added MASQUERADE in iptables script. And on the client side I have configured server ip as gateway and using same dns servers as specified on the server. But when I do tracert (windows client) it just hits gateway machine and get Request Timed Out. SOS. I do most of my software development on Red-Hat 9 since it was new. My test system is a Pentium 4 /1.7 GHz on an Intel D845GEBV2 motherboard with 512k DDR-SDRAM. Put in a Samsung CDROM and three 40GB-7200 rpm Samsung Puma hard disk drives. [hda, hdb and hdd] hda on my computer has Red Hat 9 hdb has Windows Me Wanting to check-out what SuSE had to offer, I bought a SuSE Professional Linux 9.0 box. SuSE installed uneventfully on hdd, but now Red-Hat 9 wont boot. It chokes when it finds SuSEs Reiser filesystem and /boot Disabling hdd (Secondary Slave) in bios, lets my Red Hat 9 on hda (Primary Master) boot normally. Any suggestions how to get SuSE 9.0 and Red Hat 9 to coexist? Ram

All the CDs contain only one file with the extension ..cpio.gz I unzipped it using gzip but how to extract files from .cpio format. I read the man page for CPIO but could not understand it. hi, i got multiple processes running on my system, whose process id's (PID) can be known by "ps". My query is .... can we increase and/or decrease the priority of these processes "dynamically", so that i can choose which process gets the maximum and which one gets the minimum CPU TIME. best of luck. ashutosh.

suggest a speedy window manager

hi ppl, this is my first mail to the list. I am a relatively newbie to linux. The problem is that i am using gnome as my desktop, which seems to have slowed down my system considerably. Could anyone of u suggest me any other window manager, which would speedup the system, be simple and provide optional features. Tried KDE but no performance improvement. Hi Friends/Pete, I m new to sendmail, I was configuring Sendmail/Squiremail setup, I was successfull in doing so.Now the problem is I m not able to SMTP my mails thru Outlook Express although I m able POP the same. I doubt with some Relay configuration. I edited my /etc/mail/access file to allow other ip and then ran the makemap command as makemap hash /etc/mail/access.db < /etc/mail/access and restarted the service but din'nt work. Any advise on the same ??? Also if some one could help me with some good docs on NIS and LDAP clubing with sendmail. Hi, When i gave 'map' at EFI prompt,nothing related to CDROM was displayed. The o/p of 'dmesg' is: #dmesg | egrep -i 'flo|cd' hda: HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-7500, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive hdb: LS-120 SLIM4 00 UHD Floppy, ATAPI FLOPPY drive Hence i created a boot disk by : dd if=boot.img of=/dev/hdb bs=180k Now at EFI prompt i change to shell>fs1: fs1>elilo linux The system won't boot from local cdrom,but it boots from prev old linux which is on hard disk!! Iptables Help

Hi I need some help on the following problem with Iptables. Can anybody provide me with some help. Server Details a) Our service provider provides us a catchall account & SMTP access. e.g. Server IP 10.10.10.10 b) We have a gateway firewall server with squid running. e.g. Server IP 55.55.55.55 (Live IP) c) We have a email server running behind the firewall. e.g Server IP 77.77.77.77 To Do a) The email server should be able to send POP & SMTP requests to our email service providers server ie 10.10.10.10 via our gateway server b) Users from internet should be able to access our internal email server i.e. 77.77.77.77 via our gateway server 55.55.55.55 Current Status a) I feel the following iptable code running on our gateway server will allow users from internet to access our internal email server. Please advice if this is right. (Note : eth1 - External Network Card) iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth1 -j MASQUERADE iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth1 -p tcp --sport 80 -j DNAT --to 77.77.77.77:80 I need to do this urgently and would require your precious contribution. I would suggest that Dr. Pavri should read up on the regex operators in Perl, and understand what Devdas's code snippet is trying to do, so that he can himself figure out what's wrong! Sameer. Dear Linuxers, I have been working hard on building my own RedHat Linux based distro..... I have made a kickstart file using redhat-config-kickstart and saved the file @ ROOTBUILD/ dir and isolinux/ Dir..... While testing anaconda --test method=nfs ...e.tc. The custom kickstart installation does not begin but I do see the changes in all the RedHat logos...e.t.c Does that mean I cannot test the kickstart using anaconda --tes method=nfs ...command or am I making a mistake...in placing the kickstart file. I am running debian testing/unstable w/ exim 3.xx. I am getting frozen messages in the mailq.
