Partial internet connectivity under linux but windows gives full connectivity

Hi, i access internet using lan. i have windows 98 and linux red hat 7.3 installed. While i can surf any website and use yahoo messenger in windows 98, i cannot surf most of the sites in linux and cannot use yahoo messenger. Only some sites like google.com can be accessed by both linux and windows.I can get my mails using email client in both linux and windows properly. On analying TCP Dumps , i figured out that my machine sends TCP Reset often..in linux while in windows it sends it rarely . In general internet connection under window is good while under linux is pathetic!!! What to do so that i get same internet connectivity in linux as i get in windows? highly in need of your idea, suggestions -vishal

Really sorry for the trouble. I should have read the docs in the source first. They explicitly tell me to upgrade my mod-init-utils package. I did that and atleast the modules are being detected. Rest should be ok as the config utils have become even more cleaner and well structured. Thanx for all the responses. Siddhesh. -- A little inaccuracy saves a world of explanation. Problem With kernel 2.6.0-test2

I finally convinced myself to try out beta kernels. And I downloaded the 2.6 test version. But the problem now is that modules don't work. Is there anything different that I have to do compared to the normal kernel compilation procedure? My 2.4 kernel still works fine (compiled it from source... so I guess I'm no a complete stranger to it.) Welcome to the world of kernel compilation!! Even I had the same problem, and i posted to the list. You need to install module-init-tools and then recompile the kernel. There could be other packages you must upgrade, check out the README/INSTALL files with the kernel. -- Goldwyn :o) I finally convinced myself to try out beta kernels. How to mount linux filesystem

Hi All, Need some helps here. Previously i have a hard-disk with linux 7.3 which recently crashed. I decided to setup a new hard-disk with linux 9, a install the previous hard-disk as secondary. Does anyone know, how could i access the secondary hard-disk contents? by using mount? Thankx

Hurd Cd's

Hi, Is there anyone here who has Debian GNU/Hurd cd's? (preferably the K4 release). I have tried the vendors listed at http://www.gnu-india.org/ but that is a dead end. I tried emailing a couple of people off this list but that has not led anywhere. It seems terribly hard to find Hurd cd's in Mumbai. On a dial-up line, downloading is unfortunately not a viable option. If someone does have the cd's and is willing to sell copies to me, please let me know. Thanks, - Apurva
