Chotha Beta 1 released (A wordpress client)

Hi, Chotha Beta 1 is released. Chotha is a blog client written in PyQt4. This is mainly for wordpress, will add support for others later. It is having basic HTML tag editing capabilities with saving blog entries locally in the system. You can also save it as draft in the server. You can preview your entry either in Firefox or in Konqueror. Or else you can click and go to visual mode to see quick preview (without images). The project will involve creating tools for the visualization of atmospheric weather data using MayaVi. MayaVi is an open source, interactive, 3D visualization tool written in Python. More information on MayaVi is available from http://mayavi.sourceforge.net. In addition to directly working with MayaVi and its core development team, the project will require working with and contributing to several important open source projects like VTK (http://www.vtk.org), Python (http://www.python.org), Traits and the Envisage application framework (http://code.enthought.com). Linksys wrt54g setup questions

Hi all, Yesterday I was trying to set up my home network using the Linksys WRT54G which I recently purchased from the US. The setup I am trying to achieve is: My TriBand connection is to be shared between my desktop (ethernet) and my laptop (by 802.11b/g). Some issues: 1) The router docs clearly say that I have to run an installer from the CD before doing any cabling. This is possible only for windows. What is the procedure for Linux users? 2) The power cable is rated for 120V/60Hz. I plugged this into a wall socket for a few minutes and did not notice any overheating. Can I conclude that this is ok to use? Anyhow using this power cable, the power LED did not glow. I will shop for a suitable cable today. Can you suggest what rating cable I should use? Keyboard dead after KDE starts.

Hello All, My dad was working on the Kubuntu 6.06 laptop creating a document on Open Office. After some lines, he could not type anything. He saved the document using the touch pad and the File > Save option and shut down the system using the touch pad. When I had a look at the system, I found that the keyboard goes dead after desktop is up. Before that till the gui login prompt, everything works and I can go to Ctrl + Alt + F1 console. But after desktop is up no key works except Fn + Brightness, Fn + Touch pad on/off which are hard (ware) keys. I created a new user in console and gave it a password. At the gui login prompt when I enter the username and passwd, it cannot start the desktop and gives a message "Could not start kstartupconfig. Check your installation. ...OK" I can login to the original user without any errors but keyboard is not functional. I can open/close programs using the touch pad. Is there any way to solve this problem without reloading the OS? Is my file system corrupt? The lappy is ok as I can boot into the other os Mandriva 2007 and use it flawlessly. Regards, Rony. This program is meant to enable users who do not have a viable network connection to manage their packages, ie. install new ones and update existing ones, through the standard package management framework used in Fedora. ubuntu 6.06 X error with ASUS m2nx motherboard. amd dual core

I just got an ASUS m2nx motherboard with AMD athlon dual core 3600. This has nvidia chipset. Tried loading ubuntu 6.06 on it and it gave X config error. Was wondering if anyone has encountered a similar problem and how it can be rectified? Would loading 7.04 fiesty fawn, resolve the issue? If yes, then does anyone have a copy handy and if within my reach, I can pick it up. problem with configure, linking

Hi, I am trying to build some packages, as shared. While building, even though I specify -L<lib_directory> to configure, it is not fetching the libraries which are already in the library_directory(shared ones). The compilation stops in the middle showing missing libraries which are already present in <lib_directory>. I have to edit the Makefile manually and give the libraries as --rpath -Wl,<library_name> in LDFLAGS= which then compiles. Is there some way around this, like option to the configue ?. -- Thanks & Regards Anish N
