Wireless LAN hacking.

I am trying to configure my Wireless LAN in such a way that it can route packets from other nodes to a access points, so that nodes outside the reach of the access point can route their packets through my card. I understand that I need to put my card into Ad-hoc mode for this to work. However, # iwconfig eth1 mode Ad-Hoc # service network restart fails to look up IP information for my card. DHCP is configured in the network. I have tried to put the card in Auto and Repeater mode too through iwconfig, with the same results. Funnily the configuration file at /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth1 still showed the mode as Managed even when I had set it to Repeater. Manually changing the setting did not yield anything fruitful. I am using Fedora Core 5, 2.6.16 kernel, and my card only supports 802.11b not 802.11g. Any idea? Thanks, Debarshi -- ,= ,-_-. =. Many routers do protocol (VPN, Skype, MSN etc) based "packet" filtering. Writing a code for HTTP filtering and implementing it on chip is no big deal. I dont think it adds any kind of complexity. a) Idea is capture packet on port 80. b) Analyse "Host:" header. c) Check acl d) Block or pass. Amish.

Samba problem in FC5

HiI have installed FC5 on one system. When I access in windows PC after few seconds it stops accing that PC. When I saw in Net Watcher of that windows system then i found hundred connections from my Linux PC. Because of this that windows PC goes out from LAN.What should i do to stop this ?Please helpRegardsNeelesh

Linux not allowed in DCA

Hi guys, They are back at it again. The Department of Company Affair (DCA) is a part of the ministry of finance. They have converted all their offline sysetems, forms, etc to online where you can make applications, file documents, etc connected with private and public limited companies. To make life simpler, they have come up with the concept of a PFO (an outsourced Public Front Office). That means, if you are qualified and meet their criteria, you can set up a small facility (you need 2-5 pcs, scanners, internet connection, etc) where people can come and use your facility to do the online with with DCA. First, people who do not have things like digital signature can use the facility to get their work done, and those who do not want to spend time figuring out how to use the system can come and use your facilty as your office staff will fill it in for them. There will be no need for anyone to go to the Registror of Companies (ROC) or the office of DCA. This will become more important in smaller cities where ROC office is not there and currently people are travelling to ROC offices. Also the PFO will help in issue of Company Director Identity numbers, digital signatures, etc. The rules for this has been issued in June 2006 as a part of the DCA-21 project. The rules specifically say that you MUST have PCs with Windows XP or Windows 2000 professional loaded on the PCs or you are not eligible for setting up the front office. So, you can not use a Linux based system though it would be more than able to do what the DCA PFO is being asked to do. I hope Dr. Nagarjuna and others can take this up to the government. I can provide anyone who needs, a copy of the rules as they have been published in the Management Accounting Journal. Regards Saswata

LFY Debian DVD

Works as usual. Except that alsa seems to have a problem. Upgraded kernel to 2.6.17-3. everything ok. I wanted sdiscover to skip probing the pci bus. but disable pci in discover.conf. discover-autoskip.conf and discover.conf-2.6 does not seem to have any effect. -- Rgds JTD
