try first updating the 3 packages bind, caching-nameserver and
chrootbind if right now it is installed- rpm -Uvh bind9.x.x.rpm , and
other rpms one by one.
if it doesnt work then try checking which files in use in your system
requires those packages that you want to uninstall by-
rpm -q --whatrequires bind9.x.x.rpm & rpm -q --requires bind9.x.x.rpm
May be the some bind utility or graphical bind9.x.x.rpm installed is
causing the system to hang.
also try to rebuild rpm database by-
rpm --rebuild & rpm --init
-try all this in RUNLEVEL 3 , on console without running X
