MRTG Problem

Hi all, I am trying to configure mrtg, i had succedded in doing the half way, but while trying to generate the graphs using indexmaker i land up with error. # indexmaker --output /var/www/mrtg/test.html /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg After executing this command i get this error. Use of uninitialized value in hash element at /usr/bin/indexmaker line 340. Please if some could help me out of this. Thanks in advance. Regards, Rajendra Rait.

GMail Search trouble

I have seen SCSI disks appear and disappear on HBA scans - when they appeared they worked fine but ... they eventually RIP'd. For this reason It is. And some of it is patented to boot. Staroffice (i dont remember the company name) paid top dollars to get the formats and use as they please. Sun purchased Staroffice and split it into staroffice (closed) and openoffice (gpld afaik). They did that as a strategy for their javadesktop and to hit M$. Staroffice has several "features" enabling it to read M$ files better than Oo - at least according to reviews. Linux router tends to crash and burn...

Hi, my debian router tends to do just that after a while of operation. The problem is basically it gives some harddisk related errors. But the harddisk checks out fine. I just need to format and reinstall debian and everything starts working fine. The hardware is quite old. It's a P1 166MHz, 1GB Seagate HD, 64MB RAM. Help is appreciated. Regards. -- Dinesh A. Joshi

Problem with two NICs

Hello guys, I am using FC4 x86_64. I have two LAN cards for two internet connections. One of them is the onboard NVIDIA chipset card. The other one is a Davicom Semiconductor 8139 card. The problem I am facing is that, in my Network Connections under Gnome, I see my NVIDIA card as eth0(forcedeth) which seems to be fine, but for the Davicom card I get an eth0 as well as another network device which is also detected as the same LAN card with a device number that changes every time I reboot my system. The eth1 which should be working fine is not and the other device which is detected works fine. Now, the problem is that I have to change the primary internet connection in Firestarter(firewall) every time I reboot my system. What can one do about it? Make a noise, what else? Don't sit quiet waiting for some half knowledgeable journalist to educate others, especially those in a position to influence policy change. Maybe this list isn't the right place to take up this activity, but there ought to be others - on an all India basis, not just for Mumbaikars. Does anyone know of one? If not, then how can we pool resources to start such a list? Would it be OT to discuss this here till it reaches a take-off (or aborted) stage? -- Vickram

Linux Mail Client - Threads like GMail

Is anyone aware of a Linux mail client that allows one to view the message threads like it is viewed in the web-based gmail account?? Basically view all the threads in one page. Of the mail clients i use - Thunderbird and Kontact - the threads are listed and one has to go to each thread to view its content. -sg

Gyach stuck behind proxy

anybody used Gyach (yahoo voice chat client for linux) sucessfully? when i try to connect i get this error Could not connect to Yahoo! Error connecting via proxy. Proxy replied: 'HTTP/1.0 403 Forbidden' but i can connect to yahoo messenger service with the default yahoo client for linux. i have no clue why its happening? google also didn't help :( -- Life is complex. It consists of real and imaginary parts.

hi, i have machines here with 2 ethernet cards each. the card that is inseted in the PCI Exp. slot always detected as eth0 and the one onboard eth1 except on the machine where i have 3 NICs. there the onboard gets eth0, PCI exp. NIC as eth1 and the last one inserted in normal PCI slot as eth2. how does OS decides which card to call eth0 or so on? -- Life is complex. It consists of real and imaginary parts.
