Hi We have a redhat 9 linux file server in our office. We would like to have a realtime virus scanner running on it so that proliferating viruses can be detected as soon as possible. I think Samba is what you would use for this. Can it be done via a mount command ? Pls enlighten me someone. If it's on the same machine, of course a simple fstab entry would work. /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows msdos But then he mentions the word 'shared' Gishu

Hi guys, I want to buy this config: 1. AMD Sempron 2200+ Box Packed (Revision A, B??) 2. Gigabyte GA-7VM400AM or 2. ASUS A7V400-MX SE or 2. ASUS A7S8X-MX or 2. MSI K7N2GM2-LSR or 2. MSI KM4M-V 3. 256MB DDR333 (PC2700) Kingston? Corsair? Hynix? Samsung? Hyundai? I expect this rig to cost about Rs.6000-6500/- I want you guys to tell me which shops in Mumbai will give me the best price and best guarantee of quality. Names, Phone nos, Address would be great. My vendor is currently out of town and I need this rig in about 2 weeks time. I already have a P3 case (ATX) and I guess some of these motherboards are uATX (micro ATX, baby ATX or whatever). Kmail won't fetch my email...

Hi Guys, I got fed up of hotmail and its non-threaded interface. So I created a new gmail account just for using this mailing list :P. Anyway, I enabled pop3 @ gmail and everything seems to be working fine. But there is a problem. I sent myself an email just to test whether kmail is working alright. The email was sent fine and it has landed up in my inbox. But when I asked kmail to fetch my emails, it says no new mail. I logged into the web interface of gmail and sure enough the email was there. Why wont kmail fetch that email? Any ideas? Also, is my email looking ok? I am wrapping the lines at 78. Should I change it? BTW I am using FC2 with kmail 1.6.2 -- Dinesh A. Joshi

I am hypothesising: The UIDL of the message to yourself, sent by KMail to your GMail mbox, matches the UIDLs in KMail db and therefore does not download it. As a test case, use fetchmail to poll your GMail inbox and see if your message is pulled. Hi All: (I'm writing this mail as an ILUG-Mumbai list member, and not as an official representative of the Bangalore Linux User Group.) For those who don't know, The Linux community in Bangalore - The Bangalore LUG- organizes an event every year for the past few years. So far, this event has been called "Linux Bangalore". I'd heard of this event in 2003, but was able to attend the event in 2004. You get to meet lots of techies, listen to talks, learn lessons, share knowledge, and build contacts. I feel that apart from the name and the venue, there's nothing Bangalore specific about this event - all are welcome and there's no discrimination. This year, the event promises to be focussed on FLOSS and community issues, than be limited to just Linux. Since it is the attendees and the various enthusiasts who'll benefit the most, all are invited to participate in the discussions. While there are people from this list who're already members of the linux-bangalore-2005 list, apparently not everyone is aware of this event, and the planning for this event.
