Fedora Core 2-Modules loading problem + Unsuppoted Chipset

Hi, We have recently installed Fedora Core 2 on HCL Server with Super Micro X5DPL-8GM motherboard. System specs: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.40GHz [HT] Adaptec AIC7902 Ultra320 SCSI adapter [Dual channel] 36.7 GB [SEAGATE Model: ST336607LW] 512MB RAM ECC [hynix] NIC: Intel Corp.|82557/8/9 [Ethernet Pro 100] Intel Corp.|82545EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller I have prtially updated this install using up2date i.e kernel,kernel-utils,iptables,squid,rpm,wget,xinitrc etc. When i start system with kernel-smp-2.6.5-1.358 or kernel-2.6.5-1.358 Queries:- 1>I am getting following error during startup: ACPI: S3 and PAE do not like each other for now, S3 disabled. agpart: Unsupported Intel Chipset (Device id:254c) Does this means Super Micro M/B is not supported by FC2? 2>When i boot it with new kernel-2.6.10-1.771_FC2 system shows "usbdevfs not supported by kernel" Does it means usbdevfs not support new kernel. 3>i can't able to load modules (i.e ip_nat_ftp and ip_conntrack) When i tried to manually load module:- [root@matrix root]# /sbin/insmod ip_conntrack insmod: can't read 'ip_conntrack': No such file or directory [root@matrix root]# Slocate finds ip_conntrack and ip_nat_ftp modules [root@matrix root]# slocate ip_nat_ftp|more /lib/modules/2.6.10-1.771_FC2smp/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_nat_ftp.ko /lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_nat_ftp.ko /lib/modules/2.6.10-1.771_FC2/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_nat_ftp.ko /lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358smp/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_nat_ftp.ko /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-1.358/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_nat_ftp.c Trying to load all necesary iptables modules during bootup. [OT] Switch. Dlink 5 port 10/100 non working. for free.

Got this switch Dlink DSS 5+, that barfed one fine day and is not working since then. tried whatever i could to get it working, but seems like a no-go. So any freak out there interested in playing with it and getting it to work or using it as a fashion statement, feel free to ping me offlist and pick it up. better it goes to a geek than to the raddiwala. if you can get it working, 2 brownie points for you for saving the world from a non biodegradable component. Hi Linuxers I'm trying to install wine on SuSe Linux 9 & getting following error. Unresolved dependencies: Installing wine-20050419-0.1[Local Packages] There are no installable providers of (any)libXxf86dga.so.1[[Any]] for wine-20050419-0.1[Local Packages] wine-20050419-0.1 is scheduled to be installed, but this is not possible because of dependency problems. Well yes using VNC or XClient is possible...! But the reason why i always used to do it via a physical console was coz anyways i had to go into the DC for putting the CD's in. But ur idea of loopback mounting the ISO is something i will definitely try out..! What if i have a the files and directories on the CD have been dumped and not the ISO...! Accessing home PC from office (behind firewall)

Hi list, I've been looking for a way to access my home machine from my office but to no avail. ssh/sshd remote login query

hi all, i was trying to implement vnc on a remote server via ssh. suppose a normal non-root account is called "user1" and assume that via sudo, i want to allow that user to run any command as user root without specifying a password each time he logs in for running selected programs. So, in that file, i added added: user1 ALL = NOPASSWD: ALL I know this does not sound good for security , so hence my post to you all .... what are the security risks and what are the precautions to be taken ? I want to restrict a user (or any number of users) to only run certain applications: Any idea/input is welcome thanks for reading-- _svaksh_

VMWare for FC3 and FreeBSD on AMB Athlon XP

I am having some space constraints so hows this for a solution. On an existing desktop (AMD athlon XP, 256 MB) running FC3, can I also install FreeBSD using VMWare and run both simultaneously? FC3 is needed as the routine desktop and FreeBSD for testing. The usage of freeBSD OS will be via ssh so dont care about the gui. Has this worked for anyone?
