Dear Vaibhav, As far I know, For example if U add this in /etc/resolv.conf search redhat.com it would mean that when U want to place a query like ping mail.redhat.com due to the addition of the search keyword in resov.conf U could just type ping mail it would automatically ping mail.redhat.com Due to the ' search ' keyword it appends queried hostname to the domain mentioned next to search to every query U make Correct me If I am wrong ... Hi All, This sure is a too fundamental a question, and I could not get an understandable answer, hence I am seeking help here. What is the meaning of "search foo.com" & "domain foo.com" in resolv.conf resolv.conf contains a list of NS <as provided by ISPs> which will do domain to IP lookup... so then what will searched on foo.com ?? [OT] MTNL TriBand DSL service

Every now and then the MTNL DSL service goes south - cannot browse the web, DNS look up fails etc. - basically no IP traffic goes out of the DSL router. To recover, I have to power cycle the DLink modem 502T. I understand that some of you with the service, may be experiencing the similar problems. What kind of symptoms do you experience? What action on your part recovers the link? Pls. let me know. Send your info off this list (mailto:arunkha@gmail.com). I recently spoke to a sales rep of a linux based accounting app but saw it too was too binding. Maybe it's not their fault, maybe i never clearly expressed by specs. I am looking for a platform independent accounting application, built around open source components. The linux based accounting App was not only NOT OS but also tied to a particular platform. No can do. theoretically i should be able to run it on Windows, FreeBSD, Xandros, RH9, FC3 (both client and server) So... Maybe a webbased accounting app with a mysql/postgreSQL backend seems to be the only solution for now. and it should be openSource ofcourse. It's a bummer that a web based app would mean doing away with the function keys. (true? false?) a) It seems that K.G. has a comprehensive open source accounting package out there, which could do with some testing, development and other help from the domain experts as well as technical folks. I am sure some of our CA linuxers can join in? as well as some technical folks? If there are others too developing their own open source apps and would like to pool in resources, maybe we should get together and see how history can be made? any takers? How to get the creation date of a file

Hello All Is there any way to retrieve the creation date of a file? The "ls -l" command shows date, but once the file is modified, the date shown is the modification date. Hi there, I have a simple Query. My activity is to install pgsql on Linux Redhat9. However I installed postgresql-7.3.2.tar.gz like this.. Hello: Is there anyway to controlling a remote client with local keyboard and mouse. I have started a remote x app on a remote display. Is there anyway I can controll that applciation using the local keyboard and mouse. I'm particularly interested in knowing if any XF86config tweaks can be done in this regard.
