I am rephrasing my wordings. For user, changing MAC ensures that he can use the internet connection which is bound to a specific MAC id, on more than one systems. Correct! Binding mac ids prevents interoperability and spoofing mac ids is a workaround over this device locking by isps. :-) Regards, Rony.

India is kind of somewhat a sad situation. Compared to the amount of educated people, I think India is fairly low on the list compared to what it could be. Culturally it should be fairly easy, because language barriers should not be there. If you are educated in India, you know English even if it is not your first language. So India actually should have an easier time being involved in some of the discussions. Don't get me wrong, there are developers, but just not as many as I would expect. And I don't know quite why. There is a fair amount of really enthusiastic local LUGs and I get to hear about them. But, at the same time I don't know India, you know much better. My gut feeling is that a lot of the actual professional developers in India see software development as a job and not as a hobby. That's the kind of picture I've gotten, I don't know if it's true. Hi! I have installed Fedora 15 on my desktop & facing problem with connecting to the Internet. I'm using SSV Internet (LAN based network) which uses the 24Online Cyberoam client in Windows for connection & authentication. I have downloaded & installed the cyberoam linux client but it fails to connect. If anyone is using SSV internet connection on Fedora 15, please guide me how to enable connectivity. I am spreading knowledge about GNU/Linux O/S to the student community as well as other members of my society. Due to this reason maximum computers are being sold only after installation of at least any one version of GNU/Linux O/S. I started working on Red Hat Linux, then to Fedora, then to Open SUSE and now a day I am working on Arch Linux. I have installed Arch Linux on more than 50 computers without taking any money for this. I am also not taking money for any help required by any one in this environment. For my survival, I am earning very little amount (Rs. 8000 per month ~ $175 per month) from University and some money by taking projects from http://www.freelancer.com/ in the LAMP environment with identity of ccpplinux (http://www.freelancer.com/users/30055.html). Now I want to expand this project execution process by involving more and more students in this work so that I can attract maximum students towards this operating system. For that purpose I have divided the current running projects in different modules and assigned them to three different students. This process has attracted several students to work with me due to transparency in work and money distribution. I think it will further make popular the GNU/Linux O/S among the student community. But now I am facing the problem of computers on which more and more students will work on these projects. But if I will get any old and used computers or laptops then I am confident that I can utilize them by installing Arch Linux on those computers and starting development work in LAMP environment on them. I am confident that with my present level of income I can maintain these old computers by earning from them but I am NOT having so much money in hand that I can purchase at least 5 new computers and start working on them to spread popularity of GNU/Linux O/S. Hello, Nowadays there is a new trend among schools in Mumbai, to install electronic interactive black boards in classrooms. This concept is being marketed in a crazy way and there appears to be a race to install one everywhere. Marketing persons are convincing the school authorities that this is the only way to teach and will also help students that have learning difficulties. The systems run on Windows and teachers are being encouraged to do everything in MS Power Point slide shows by creating them every day. Another interesting thing is that they have a server installed where teachers must upload all their teaching material so it is commonly available to everyone. It appears that the hardware will be sold to the schools and the data made by the teachers may get used for marketing. My question is that how much computing is needed in teaching today? Apart from showing educational films and slide shows in the auditorium, what more can be done in class using a computer? -- Freedom is a shared resource. Take some, leave the rest for others.
