To add a new printer to your system, at least in Rh the command is 'printconf-gui' in an xterm window. You could try this out even if you're on another distro. you will have to enter the root password to access it. Don't forget, if you are going to use this printer as your default one, keep it's name as 'lp'. hi, thanks for the suggestion of using nice. how ever "nice" is a program which *starts* a program in the said priority. What i want to do, is, to change the priority of a running process *dynamically*. This dynamic decision must be based on the PID of the running process. regards, ashutosh.

hi, i got multiple processes running on my system, whose process id's (PID) can be known by "ps". My query is .... can we increase and/or decrease the priority of these processes "dynamically", so that i can choose which process gets the maximum and which one gets the minimum CPU TIME. best of luck. ashutosh.

A segfault can be caused by a multitude of reasons such as incompatible libraries to corrupt binaries or hdd issues as well as rootkits. You can try running chkrootkit. Clifford.

Why do i get segmentation fault when i do 'mkdir' or 'ls' I tried to search in internet for the same but was not able to find a proper answer / or i could understand the answer :(( The machine where i'm getting this is in internet. How could i recover this ? -Dilip.M

hi pramila, i am using LILO for Redhat8. what Narayan Kejriwal = says is absolutely correct. for LILO also same procedure, to change '= lilo.conf' file. hi Dilip, Narayan Kejriwal's is the best appr= oach to this problem. chek it urself. suggest a speedy window manager

hi ppl, this is my first mail to the list. I am a relatively newbie to linux. The problem is that i am using gnome as my desktop, which seems to have slowed down my system considerably. Could anyone of u suggest me any other window manager, which would speedup the system, be simple and provide optional features. Tried KDE but no performance improvement. Although system upgradation would speedup .... but that's not a option. Thanks, Ashutosh.

Hello All, sorry if u find this not related to linux but if anyone know plz help me I installed RedHat linux 8 with GRUB as my boot loader. after that i installed win98 now when i start system, it directly starts win I am not getting GRUB loader . how can i start linux & get loader? Querry on Sendmail..(RELAY)

Hi Friends/Pete, I m new to sendmail, I was configuring Sendmail/Squiremail setup, I was successfull in doing so.Now the problem is I m not able to SMTP my mails thru Outlook Express although I m able POP the same. I doubt with some Relay configuration. I edited my /etc/mail/access file to allow other ip and then ran the makemap command as makemap hash /etc/mail/access.db < /etc/mail/access and restarted the service but din'nt work. Any advise on the same ??? Also if some one could help me with some good docs on NIS and LDAP clubing with sendmail.
