DNS question

Hi there, I am using redhat 7.2 with a dialup connection. my resolv.conf looks like this... when i set it. nameserver 202.54.1.30 nameserver 202.54.1.18 search . however sometime after getting connected the addresses of the name serververs change to nameserver 203.197.12.30 nameserver 202.54.1.72 search . why is this .. arnt the original servers working ? and i have a problem with some websites while connected to VSNL generall in the past few days ! also what does the "." mean , the one after search ? Hi Vasudeva, It is possible to do what you have mentioned in the mail.... Following is the configuration that is working in my system.... 1. Make a file (eg: /tmp/allowedsites) that contain urls of allowed sites. 2. Make a file eg: /tmp/allowedmachs that contain ips of allowed machines 3. edit squid.conf as follows:-- acl allowedmachs src "/tmp/allowedmachs" acl allowedsites url_regex "/tmp/allowedsites" http_access allow allowedmachs allowedsites http_access deny all See to it that you put these lines in the ACCESS CONTROLS section in squid.conf... It seems in your system it didnt work because you didnt mention the last line "http_access deny all"....Squid by default allows all.... can someone tell me how i can get rid of embedded HTML from my mail? My mail client is Kmail. Halo I am once again sending this once again. I need help urgently. I am having RH7.2 installed on machine. On this machine samba is also configured for windows connectivity. >From this machine i need to access folders on unix machine. For this i added two lines in /etc/rc.d/rc.local umount /n_exp_ob umount /n_imp_ob smbmount //raman/exp_ob /n_exp_ob smbmount //raman/imp_ob /n_imp_ob Here raman is unix machine name. n_exp_ob & n_imp_ob are linux machine folders where unix machine folders mounted. exp_ob and imp_ob are unix machine folders. Folders are getting mounted correctly, but after some time I am getting following messages on screen continuously and machine stop working. smb_proc_readdir_long: name=\*, result=-2, rcls=1, err=2 Anybody know solution for this. Samba configuration

I have very little experience about linux networking. I want to connect two commuters. One is configuerd as domain controller with windows 2000 Active directory with domain name milky way IP add 198.165.10.2 same DNS address and second is with mandrake 8.1. Tell me how I will conect two PCs Tell with the simple langauge with proper instructions with staiate method OR Tell me how I will configur linux as a samba server with peer-to peer madel in the simple sets of instructions.

Hi! I'm planning to install Dos for using MASM (for real mode assembly) but i don't hav ny Dos partitions. contact between various LUGs

hi i was in goa engg coll lately for a competetion and got to meet a few ppl.what i observed was that, the popularity of linux and the desire among the students to be thorow with linux was clearly evident. i spoke to students from goa and a few from belgam. these guyz do have their local lugs and do what ever bit they can. after talking to then it struck me that why no have some communication between the lugs. what i propose is that, since a lot is going on the lugs on the mailing list and these things are really useful, why not share the popular topics every week on each lug with the other lugs. what we can do is (manually/ or automatedly) select 5 most popular topics on the mailing list, pile up all the discussion on those topics in 1 mail and mail them to every lug so that we can have thier comments too... we may also share the "off the mailing list" activities of each lug. for further discussion on this i have invited a few students from goa lug and belgam lug to attend the workshop @ our college. just an idea.... plz comment gurpreet

Hi, You got divine hands :-). Though it worked, you should still allocate memory to arg itself for holding array of pointers. Something like arg = (char **) malloc(sizeof(char *) * 6); arg[5] = NULL; Amish.
