burning RH cds

hi luggerz some of u might laugh on this but.... have a prob, i tried writing a RH installation cd on a blank cd, but the new cd is'nt bootable.... now how do i make those CDs bootable?? to write CDs i was using windows and the HP application 'coz the writer is not mine and the system that has the writer is not mine, so have to bare up. plz comment Gurpreet

[OT] MASM in Linux

Hi! i tried to run MASM in Linux using dosemu+freedos but i get the following error: Phar Lap err 35: The 386 chip is currently executing in virtual 8086 mode under the control of another program. You must turn off this other program in order to use 386|DOS-Extender to run in protected mode. will i b able to run MASM ? or do i hav to resort to inline assembly ? (Turbo C works fine in dosemu) BTW can ny1 tell wot the error means nd how did the program come to know abt all the stuff ... (I guess the error means : u r running 386 in real mode , switch to protected mode. right ? ) Also I'm confused : DOS is supposed to work in real mode right ? -- Thx Nikhil

Network help

Hi all !! i tried network in linux-to-linux computers as well as linux-to-windows computers. The problem, which i am facing is, when i installed samba protocol, i am able to access windows computer from linux computer(all files and folders available on windows computer), but from windows computer, i can get only hardware level connectivity, i.e. only ping is working, i am getting a reply for ping. But neither i can see linux computer in network neighbourhood nor from run utility, it is only one way connection. When i tried networking in linux-to-linux computer. To do that, i have done following steps.. 1.Install network in both linux computers. 2.Checked hardware level connectivity. 3. share directory from linux computer, from /etc/exports file & start demon services again. But when i tried to acces shared directory from another linux computer using mount command, i get the message permission denied, when i have given full control to any user for the workgroup. hi all !! I am one of the linux fan just like you, i have worked up to some extend on linux 7.1 & 7.3, i am still facing a problem for linux-to-linux network problem. i tried exporting of files from one computer & mounting from another computer, but everytime i got the message access denied or request rejected. pls. help on this matter. hi all, found solution to my problem, my mails were looping back to the sender saying <first(a)test.cnpl.co.in>: This message is looping: it already has my Delivered-To line. Herez a stepwise manner to do that Step 1 -------- Download any of the tar balls from http://www.elis.rug.ac.be/~ronsse/cdfs/download/ Step2 ------ There is a some bug in the header file cdfs.h To rectify it comment out parts of lines in the following manner #define BANNER FSNAME //##"\t"##VERSION #define EMPTYMESSAGE BANNER //##"\n\tNo CD mounted\n\n" If u wish u could try something more elegant :) Step 3 -------- Run make Step 4 -------- Load the loadable kernel module cdfs.o using /sbin/insmod cdfs.o Step 5 -------- Mount the aud cd using mount -t cdfs -o ro /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdfs Step 6 -------- To see track listings cat /proc/cdfs Enjoy!! -- SANKHA SUBHRA SOM ATC - BIOINFORMATICS TCS KLK BUILDING.
