Most Linux developers I have encountered, use all their software for free. As a computer professional, I install the RedHat 7.2 or 7.3 Linux operating system and utilities onto a customer's computer(s) free of charge anyway. May I charge for software that I develop using C++ or Python and Qt/X11 Free Edition? May I make customers pay fair price for transfer/license of the computer professional's intellectual property, personal labor and operational costs incurred (salaries, rents, electricity, air-conditioning, etc.) not to mention profits/margins. Does developing software using a Free or Open Source software development environment, prevent/preclude me from legally selling (charging for), application programs and reusable components developed by me, without giving away the source code? What is our position with: copyleft, Free/Open Source, etc.? Ram

restrict proxy within a NetSharing Linux Box

Dear Friends, I�ve installed RH Linux 7.2 on a machine. That machine is having the Local Area Network IP is = 192.168.0.1 Now from the machine having IP 192.168.0.2, I wants to Telnet the Linux machine, but it shows me an error �The remote host refused connection.� The same case is there in FTP. So n e body suggest me step by step configuration for accessing Telnet / FTP to Linux machine from my Windows PC over LAN.�? First see if telnetd and your ftp daemons are properly configured and running. You can use 'ntsysv' as root to see if they are started at run-time. You can also use: "/etc/rc.d/init.d/*name_of_daemon* status" to verify. Dial-up on Mandrake?

I recently tried out Mandrake 8.2 distro on my Machine, the one that came with this months Digit. I soon realised that my days with wvdial were over. After making failed attempts to connect to my ISP.. I gave up. Can anyone give me pointers? Hi, I have been using Debian unstable on my machine for the more than a year now ... Are there other Debian users out there on the list?? I need to come up with arguments to atleast try out Debian instead of RedHat. I use it for the sheer ease of upgrades and stability. But I need arguments strong enough to convince sysads and end-users alike to try it out, and to justify setting up a Debian mirror. In fact, Debian is not too popular here in the IIT ... I posted a problem on the local newsgroups, and imagine, not a single reply!!! Debian users

Been using Debian unstable since last October. For development it is The Distro. It has ports to most (all the ones that i know of) CPUs, which is vital for embedded stuff. It has a sane dependency & package managment policy. It has the largest number of packages. It is the esasiest to upgrade and maintain (particularly with a fat net connection. Commercial distros try to create a "typical user" cd. A typicla developer environment is anything but typical. Further there will be no nasty suprises in the gcc or per seat licences or some other desperate manuover to stay alive. Debian has a life and world all it's own and will be around long after the commercial distros. Did u do chmod 711 on public_html and cgi-bin directory directory? Also u need ExecCGI on directory, /home/*/public_html/cgi-bin Plus I think you need mod_users module on. File Transfer between 2 webservers(JAVA Servelets)

hello friends, I am stuck up with one problem in JAVA servelts. I need to transfer one file object (a serialzable object) from one servelt running on a tomcat engine to another servlet running on another tomcat engine. both these have well defined IP address. modem detection problems

Hello, I recently upgraded to RedHat 7.3 ( I was previously using RedHat 7.1 ). I have a Motorola SM56 internal modem on my machine. I have the modem driver for RedHat 7.1 ( downloaded from the motorola WebSite ). I was using this to run my modem on my earlier Linux installation. The same driver doesn't seem to work with RH 7.3 ... I looked around for another driver that would work but had no luck. I'd be grateful if someone could tell me how to get my modem to work on RH 7.3 or give me link to a website that will tell me how to do it. Thanks, Rohit.
