Hi ! Any idea from where I can download system commander 2000 ( "for free")..?? I have a Win 2000 and Linux Dual Boot (Disk a) + Sun Solaris (Disk b - intend to install)... Can it handle all these three.. any feedback/suggestions... Hey, which mail servers do you guys suggest one should use? I have heard good things about qmail, but it requires a static ip. Exim isnt very popular and sendmail is a tad bit scary for me... anyone else got any suggestions? It gives you a good idea of the current traffic and also weekly, monthly etc. I right now don't have the urls, but mrtg search in google will lead you to the right location. VPN Help

Hello everybody, I'm trying to install and configure the VPN network on my LAN. My VPN server is on Linux machine(kernel 2.4.2). I am using pptpd (http://poptop.lineo.com/) for this. I want to configure the n/w as Linux/Win<-->Linux VPN<->Internet<->Linux VPN<--Linux/Win Client Server Server Client but just for the begining I installed only one server(kernel 2.4.2 with pptpd) and on Win98 client trying to connect it. Linux VPN Server<----->Win98 client 192.168.0.32 192.168.0.0.112 But I'm not able connect.Both the machines are on the same LAN(using simple hubs not switches).The error I'm getting as below. /usr/sbin/pppd: The remote system is required to authenticate itself /usr/sbin/pppd: but I couldn't find any suitable secret (password) for it to use to do so. /usr/sbin/pppd: (None of the available passwords would let it use an IP address.) Setup PAP / CHAP secrets or try noauth switch to pppd. Or put following lines in /etc/ppp/peers/vpn --- noauth name vpn --- and call pppd with argument 'call vpn' read man pppd for details. hi everyone, as the Mumbai university has interoduced a subject called unix in C in the first year of engineering, our college ( Fr CRCE bandra) has got new computers (probably PIII with miles of disk space and ample of ram) which would be networked. now in the first year... there are 5 branches & 60 students per branch. disk space has to be alloted to these students... for their work. what would be the most efficient way of doing that ... -please suggest -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rahul Saxena: rahul"AT"inorg.org Fr. Most importantly, you have to do some calculations regarding how much space to be alloted to each user. 5 branches and 60 per branch i.e max 350 users including misc. accounts. Thats not much. Partition /home and keep the max space on this partition so that future need may also suffice. Hi All, I am checking for the data transfer over particular interface. ifconfig reports the following eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:90:77:2E:88:3E inet addr:202.54.1.30 Bcast:202.54.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:38272865 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:454 TX packets:35874542 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:233 collisions:2018238 txqueuelen:100 Interrupt:11 Base address:0x2000 How do i know the data transfered in bytes? RX and TX. Is there any other way to find it out? How precise are the values reported? Thanks Amish.

AFAIK, you can't ... unless someone decides to write a utility which will do just that. The best way is to create an rpm out of the tarball - it's rather straightforward once you get the hang of how to create a spec-file. The only hard part is creating the list of files in it, which specifies what goes into the package. But that can be done by inspecting the output of "make -n install" in the tarball.
