Linux laptops

Hi All, I'm looking to buy a linux laptop. Since my friends recommended Dell, I had a look at their options (the India site). None of them seem to come with linux. Also, I had heard about zareason. I sent them a mail asking whether they delivered to India, but they haven't replied yet. Does anyone know where to look for a laptop, preferably with linux or even without an installed OS? ====Noob alert==== Hello everyone, Greetings to all I m new member in this very active community of LUG Bombay.... I came in influence of Linux and FOSS an year ago (1st year of my college, now in 2nd year) and now , an active member and contributor in its LUG there(LUG manipal http://www.lugmanipal.org). Now, after following this mailing list for more than a month a so, i think i m ready to enter it fully Will u people plz tell me how can i actively contribute in this LUG (coz its of my city)....also are there any regular meetings too?...i can attend them during my holidayz... Pratik Anand areas of interest: Bash scripting , python scripting, C/C++ coding in Qt platform, GIMP worshipper, Newer distros and desktop environments in linux(mostly in VBox), tweaking/customizations at itsvery best (like compiz, emerald etc.) and *new bash commands*......... Platforms: Windows Vista SP1, Ubuntu Studio 9.04 and Hackintosh Mac OS X, soon will be upgrading to Slackware 13....

Space bar in a here document.

Hello. I'm trying to automate a script in ksh using a here document, but need to enter the space bar between two commands. Is there any way I can achieve this? command1 < EOF command2 space bar command3 EOF How do I translate the space bar? I tried \r, \n, " " but no luck. TIA, Nadeem.

Dics Mirroring revisited

Hi, I am still without a solution for disc mirroring.... Let me explain the setup once again. I have 2 identical PCs (same Motherboard, RAM, Processor). -- using FC9 1st one is a Primary server which is ON all the site. 2nd one is a Backup server which is only switched on when BACKUP is being taken. Rest of the time its switched off. I need to create an identical copy of the HDD of Primary PC on Sec PC. I tried Disc Image software -- "g4l". When I restore the image on the Sec PC's HDD, there is a MAC address. Is there any way to solve this problem ? Apart from RSync, is there any way to mirror DISC of 1st PC on the 2nd PC? And in such a scenario, how to address MAC address conflict issue ? Ideally, I would like a solution with least human interaction when PRI crashes and Backup PC has to be used. Pls help me! Thx

I bought an acer aspire one with linpus linux for 17.3K Working well. Superb net connectivity and wireless. Some problem with printing. CUPS doesn't recognise many HP printers. Like the colour laser 2700, HP laser 1017. Gives an error msg stating some file missing "foo....." Ashok Sinha

A Linux Printer Driver Website

Hello, Epson has come out with an all-in-one PSC with USB, LAN and WiFi for 9K and I was just browsing for printer support in Linux.
