Guys, Philip is here after a long time and we thought of catching up. I think by default with WinSCP it uses Port 22 and SSH portocol. My suggetion for you is instead of setting up FTPserver use SFTP server. It is more secured. Vsftp help

Hi I am facing problem in setting up vsftpd. System: CentOS 5, vsftpd-2.0. I am able to connect to server using windos inbuilt ftp program, but filezilla and winscp fails to connect. Then I turned OFF SELinux and IPtables to check if active/passive mode is creating problem. Still no luck. Can someone help me resolve this? Thanks Richard

Duration: 1-2 days assignment. Domain expertise: LDAP installation/configuration (openLDAP or Fedora DS) We want to implement LDAP for: 1. User login/authetication from any Linux workstation on the network. 2. NFS integration (instead of NIS), mounting /home from NFS. 3. Access to resources on workstation, e.g. users restricted to using local devices like CDROM, USB ports, etc. 4. SMTP/POP3/IMAP integration (postfix, dovecot) 5. Samba integration - windows domain login via Samba/LDAP Please contact me off list (knura at yahoo dot com) if you have the LDAP experience to implement the above setup. Special Permissions as those in NTFS

Hello, In the NTFS file system, under the security option in a folder's properties, there is an advanced option where a user/group can be restricted from writing or deleting existing files in the directory but at the same time can be granted permission to create a new file or folder. So while existing data on that folder cannot be edited or deleted, the user can paste new files in that folder. Can such special permissions be granted in EXT3 or JFS file systems? On the net I find that advanced ACLs mainly have 3 options of read write and execute. If write permission is granted, user will delete files.
