some one change my (susi linux 7.1) root password so i could not enter into root please tell me how can i enter. it will display file sytem error give root password for repair . the repair command is fsck /dev/fd9 but how can i enter it will not display (root prompt #)after give root passwprd if will fix the bug and it will display file system repaired then next time i can enter into root.so plese tell me. prasant

C and emacs

hi there, Can i look at values of constants or expressions, probably from an another file, say a header or somthing, using emacs. I guess it would involve going going through all the #defines or constructs in the header files ? hallo sir i copied one file from system to floppy.in the same system itself i opened the floppy. the file is in floppy.but when i put the floppy in another system and while opening the floppy the file is not there.it gives the following message. "it has read only option" please anybody answer

Faster Startup of apps

Hi, About one year back in a Mandrake mailing-list one of the developer pointed out that they could not keep programs in memory as windows does with IE, so apps take longer to startup on unices. I was willing to keep some of the apps in memory and let them occupy my memory in favour of faster startups of those apps. I have not idea how to do this. Any clues on how this can be accomplished? Presently I am using Mandrake 9.0 on AMD K6-2 500Mhz, 160MB RAM. I would like a generic solution that can be applied on any distribution or unix rather than a Mandrake specific solution. After this problem occured, I opened up another subscription to the list using this very email account but a different alias i.e bhargav.bhatt(a)columbia.edu instead of bbb2004(a)columbia.edu. Then it seemed to be work fine. However, the first problem(no mail from the list to bbb2004(a)columbia.edu) still remained.
