Hi I am new to the list. So first of all a big hello to all of you there. Now back to business. I would like to move my linux installation to my second hdd. Can LILO boot linux from the second hdd. Do i have to do some tweaking. ALso lilo cannot boot directly into my win2k partition. Is there any way to do so? Please help Thank you Paresh C

Hi All, FYI Remarkable improvements in server performance! http://www.zdnet.com/products/stories/reviews/0,4161,2776396,00.html Apache 1.3.19 running on a Red Hat Linux 7.1 system upgraded to the 2.4.5 kernel was able to process at peak throughput 4,602 Web requests per second. the best score Apache on Linux had was 1,842 requests per second (remember, in our retest, Linux and Apache settings were directly tuned by Red Hat engineers). That test was with Apache 1.3.6 on a Linux 2.2.10 kernel Best Regards, parag mehta

Instant Messengers - Times of India

The Times of India - Saturday 16 June - has an article about Mundu - the first Instant Messenger that can handle "all" the protocols, and allows communication between people on different protocols. Three things I don't get. 1. If they are the first, then what are everybuddy and jabber? 2. If they handle all the protocols, then why don't they handle jabber, zephyr and irc? 3. I don't understand how they allow communication between people on different protocols. Has anyone used mundu? As far as I can figure out, in order to send a message on MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, AIM or anything for that matter, you must have an account with that service. If you do have an account, then where does the cross protocol communication come up? If they do in fact support cross protocol communication, then good for them. Either way, I'm tired of uninformed reporters overlooking open source software once again. What we really need is education of the media. Any ideas? Philip -- One Bell System - it works. SiS900 LAN Card problem

hello guys! I've got a Acer Sx with SiS900 onboard lan adapter...which SuSE recognises during installation, but strangely, i see the rtl8139 module being loaded instead of the sis900 module. now, i wouldnt be complaining if it was working, but it aint...i can see eth0 and stuff, but cant hear any replies to my pings. so i do rmmod rtl8139 and insmod sis900, and the system complains that resource is busy.. well..so i shut down networking and _then_ do insmod..it returns without error, but alas! when i start networking it says eth0 - no such device... i have even downloaded the latest sis900.c and sis900.h files from the SiS site and tried to compile in the sis900 driver into the kernel..but still it doesnt configure eth0 at boot time. sigh! finally i'm posting this here..has anyone successfull configured this card?(if u have, are u still sane?) i suspect there might be some options that this card required, but i havent come across_any_ documentation regarding this. Its not mentioned in the white paper written by the blokes from SiS who wrote this driver.. anyway..ANY help is appreciated right now..i've gotta go and get me a Dispirin now.. kishor PS: i havent got any replies to my earlier query about my X problem.....is this Acer Sx such a rare piece?
