QT and KDE tools issue

Hello, I am using QT version 3.1.1. My issue is whenever I use a KDE tool like KDateWidget,KLineEdit etc.. , I get segmentation fault while running the program. I included /usr/include/kde and used the library kdeui ( I manually added this into the Makefile created using qmake. Every time I create the Makefile ,I add these entries manually,then it compiles). I got no help from QT Manual. This is the error I am getting when I tried gdb. Hi luggers, I am using Mahitee Internet Service to connect to internet(cable net provider). I am currently using Red Hat 8.0, and I have done all the configurations required for ethernet card(eth0). Now after typing the login page url in the mozilla or konquerer. It shows me the login page and also allows me to login. But there after if I try to view any page like say google.com it shows alert window saying "[1]www.google.com unknown host". Can anybody help me with this? Anyone volunteering for WSF Event...

HeLLo Linuxers, I am a bit surprised that there is no discussion on WSF to be held in Goregaon from 15-22 Jan. According to Mr. Nagarjun of FSF-India There is going to be place called media centre in the event where approx. 150 0r so PCs will be running on FLOSS. The PCs will be used by Reporters from all over the world to communicate,etc. This is a nice chance to show the power of OSS to Mumbaites and the common man. A mail asking for volunteers had been sent by Mr. Nagarjun to this mailing list. I am sure all have read it. I being interested quickly subscribed to their Temo mailing list Wsf-volunteers(a)mm.gnu.org.in but for some strange reason the mailing list responds that my email has been pending for Moderators Approval. Time is ticking away and so are my dreams of volunteering for the event. And no one is even mentioning about the event. Has anyone else tried to volunteer? hi, i use RH9 which comes with kernel 2.4.x recently i tried installing kernel 2.6.x on the same while old kernel remaining intact. i don't have separete /boot partn. everything seemed to be proper while installation got over as i was reffering enough guidelines during installation. when i restarted my pc it diplayed me both options for kernel selection at boot prompt but it got hanged after i selected option for kernel 2.6. any help will be gr8full. pls reply me at yagneshchawda(a)rediffmail.com. thnx. stat64_t , off64_t problem

i am getting errors when i compile my program. it says stat64_t not declared. similar for off64_t and lseek64_t I have included both <sys/types.h> <sys/stat.h> and other headers. earlier i had a problem for uint64_t but i resolved it by including <stdint.h> do i need to include any other header files... or do anythig else.. pls help thankx. Linux as a router

Hi, I want to configure a Linux system as a router (u can say IP Forwarding). This system can be used to connect two different IP Address schemes & will work as a router. I've tried it with RedHat 8 & 9 also but no success. I've checked that service iptable is also not running. I've also enabled IP_FORWARD with echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward. I'm not able to ping or telnet to other side network. Any help is greatly appreciated. Amol

CDRecord writing speed

Hello All, I am using CDrecord software version 1.10 to write my CDs. I found that it writes the CD too slow. I am using Lite-on external USB CD-Writer. I explicitly specified the speed by using the speed option to 40x. But that doesn't help. I tried with the same media and writer on my Windows machine with similar configuration and it writes it much faster.(It took only 4 minutes on Windows but 11 minutes on Linux). Is it an issue with CDRecord ? Is there any other Cdrecording software on Linux that will write it faster ? -- Regards, Mohan Cheema

Yeap. It does require another parameter as kernel name: Correct command was /sbin/mkinitrd -f -v /boot/initrd-2.4.18-27.7.x.img 2.4.18-27.7.x After lots of googling i havent been able to come to any correct result yet. I have already tried removing initrd from grub.conf and it still does not work. Thanks for the help and any further help would be gr8. LKCD crash

New Kernel installation problem

Hi Everyone, I have installed RHES 2.1 installed on my machine, which comes by default with kernel-2.4.9-e.24. It works well. I recently upgraded to kernel 2.4.18-27.7.x using kernel RPM as follows: rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.18-27.7.x.i686.rpm /sbin/mkinitrd -f -v /boot/initrd-2.4.18-27.7.x I am using grub as the bootloader and it has following configuration for booting into new kernel: title Red Hat Linux (2.4.18-27.7.x) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.18-27.7.x ro root=/dev/hda3 initrd /initrd-2.4.18-27.7.x.img When i boot into new kernel i get following error: pivotroot: pivot_root(/sysroot, /sysroot/initrd) failed: 2 Freeing unused kernel memory: 160k free Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. Thing to note. I can still boot to older kernel and works well. Any one any ideas what could be the problem in here? Any help on the matter will be appreciated. problem compiling GAIM with SSL support

I have downloaded gaim 0.74 and i want to use it for Yahoo and MSN. For compiling with SSL support i downloaded and installed the ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/security/nss/releases/NSS_3_8_RTM/src… nss packages as told in the FAQ of gaim.
