List, RMS[1] was in Mumbai last year in August. (27th August 2006, to be precise). A session was organized by FSF-India and GNU/Linux User Group of Mumbai, on Free Software, Free Knowledge and Free Society. This year, President of FSF-I Georg Greve[2] was in Mumbai and delivered a talk on Free Software and Science (on Thursday, 7 June 2007). 1. Does anyone from the list, has the video archives of the above two sessions? 2. Can they be shared and re-distributed? 3. If it can be, is it available on YouTube or online media? (not others, the above ones specifically) (better if it is available on a DVD or CD) 4. Apart from this, if anyone has audio archives of sessions by RMS, please let me know. Fedora 7 installation: completely unexpected results

List, One of my friend, by the name Tapas, installed Fedora 7 yesterday. The experience was something that isn't expected by a mature and quality distribution like Fedora 7. Migrating Apache.

Hi. I'm in the process of migrating apache from RH9 to FC5. Its a cgi-perl driven website. Also has ssl certs. Here is how I would go about it. 1. Copy the entire document root to the new box. 2. Copy /etc/conf directory to the new box. 3. Copy the ssl certs. Am I missing something? I know its simple, but like to have inputs from people who have done it. I'm going to format the old box before installing the new OS, so I have to be absolutely sure. Regards, NMK.

Has proper proc line. Grub is set up fine too, Did nothing special to trigger the error. Was getting segfaults with grep, rebooted, got stuck. Consulted lots of experts, google, RH kbase. No go. Hello All, At the recent speech by Mr. George G. of FSF Europe in HBCSE, he mentioned a very important point which I liked and want to pass on to those who did not attend. He explained..... In today's world knowledge is getting more and more digitized. Due to this digitization, it is the major Corporates that are controlling access to this knowledge through software code. In a Democracy where information (knowledge) should flow freely and be accessible to all, this control of knowledge by the software giants is dangerous and unwanted. This is even more important for the Governments to ensure that third parties do not control their data. Therefore its is absolutely necessary that Governments of Democratic Nations adopt free software and formats in order to safeguard their data and get it out of the clutches and control of the corporate entities. -- Regards, Rony. As the subject says is IE6.5 or higher w3c compliant and how compliant are other browsers in displaying a w3c compliant page. Basically there is a conflict going on at a potential client since one of the vendors wants that crap to run so that his app which is browser based can function. If the o/p of his app is w3c compliant FF / Konqueror / lynx should work properly and he shouldnt care what runs on a client. Since the vendor is a software giant and i will be kicking ass, i want to make sure. google throws up pages of irrelevant (almost) stuff. Can not login in KDE

I am Debian Etch user. Last day onwards i am not able to login in KDE ( GUI ) with normal user. but console login was successful. I created new user but stilll not worked. I enabled ROOT login by editing /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc. Linux compatible scanner

Hello All, I have to give a quotation to someone for a linux system. Everything else is compatible. I would like to know which scanner is compatible with lunux ( mostly Ubuntu ). I have 2 choices Canon Lide 25 or HP 2400. Has anyone tried anyone of these with linux and if so please give some details of hardware, OS and version. Kubuntu 7.04 on Gigabyte 945 [Report]

Hello All, I installed Kubuntu 7.04 on a Gigabyte 945 motherboard system with Pentium DC 3 GHz. processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB SATA Seagate HDD and Samsung 17 " TFT monitor and Sony DVD writer. . First I tried the 64 bit live cd but it could not give resolution above 800x600. So the 32 bit version was tried and it gave a full toss 1280 x 1024 resolution. Sound was also up as I got the startup 'ding diding ding ding' sound. Network was up and running too in the ethernet card with triband service. I did not install full MMedia support as the client requires it only for internet. The Microsoft web cam was either not detected or I did not know how to view it as time was short. The only problem I got was that shut down or restart hangs just at the point of transition between on to off or back to on. [OT] [Safe to Delete] Goodies in Digit DVD

Hello All, This month Digit has brought out an aniversery issue with a seperate Hindi movie DVD, Ubuntu 7.04 bootable from the data DVD. It has the picture of a shoe next to it to indicate 'bootable'. Oow! It also has a folder called Linux Courses with 6 PDF files on Linux tutorials. ULAIR Project Testing

Hello Luggers, We have just wrapped up with the phase 1 of our project...though its far from being complete and bug free, we request all of you especially the experienced programmers to try it out. To give you a summary in 1 line : Its an Uniform Linux Application Installer and Repository (ULAIR) built by us to support the RPM and DEB based applications. Basically we want to reduce the workload of application installation and smoothen the process in a networked environment with our repository being installed on the server. All this is of course only for Linux distributions. hi, as you may know VJTI has offered a lab of 30 machines for use of the community. We are going over there on sunday to start setting up the machines and chalk out programs. The lab will be available for all lug type activities. Our first challenge is to set up the lab as a state of art thingie that showcases the best of FOSS. And then to bring crowds in to see, use, learn and enjoy. Sync Ubuntu to WM5

Hi Guys, I have been using Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 for about an year now on my IBM R50e laptop with Evolution as the mail client. Our office uses MS Exchange. Recently bought a new Imate JasJam with WM5 O/S. I want to sync the contacts and calender of my evolution with the WM5. Hi all, I tried to use xemacs as a lisp ide using slime. i referred to slime and xemacs' inbuilt info documentation but still haven't succeeded in configuring it properly.
