Hi, there's no reply on my previous mail...!!! I'm sending my question again...!!! I'm having Red Hat Linux 7.3 machine connected to the netowrk (10/100)...!!! I want to know on which speed is my network card is running...??? also I want to know is it running on full-duplex or half-duplex...!!! any help will be gr8 for me...!!! thanx, Regards, Pranay

problem with auto-mounting cdrom

i've changed the options in /etc/fstab for cdrom to "auto"mount, but still the cd's are not automounted. ie. whenever i insert a cd into the drive, i want it to be automounted, but it does not happen. how do i do it? the exact entry in /etc/fstab is: /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 auto,users,kudzu,ro 0 0 -- Pradnyesh Sawant(The doubtfire) B.E. how to configure external modem on linux

hi can anyone help me to configure my dlink 56kbps ext. modem in linux. i'm using redhat v7.2 i've used both the graphical n text mode for config 'n' while dialing i get a response as " NO DIAL TONE DETECTED" could anyone help me out ??? cheers... enjoy !!! Bhushan

Error in getting second eth up while booting the system

Hello All, I am using RedHat 7.2 on COMPAQ DL360 server.Am getting error in /var/log/message stating "ifup: Error, some other host already uses address X.Y.Z.W. network: Bringing up interface eth1: failed". This machine is already having one ip address on eth0.it is perfectly working.But when second NIC is configured and machine is booted up, got these kind of errors. X.Y.Z.W ip is static IP.not getting from DHCP.also this ip is not allocated to other host.so,what could be the reason?? Awaiting for favouarable reply. Thanks in advance. Rgds, kavita
