problem with internal modem

Hi luggers , I've installed Mandrake 8.2 & I am having Motorola SM56 PCI internal modem on ttys3 or com4 . I am trying to connect to Internet thru Linux. I tried to configure my system using Mandrake Control Center , but when i clicked on "Connect" tab , it shows "connection failed" after sometime. When I list my hardware using HardDrake tool it lists my modem correctly , so I think Linux has recognised my internal modem . But when I click on properties for modem , it shows all details like vendor and all except for 'kernel modeule ' for which it says 'UNKNOWN' . So do i need to install driver ? Please Help . Thanx in advance . Kedar.

It happens like this most likely because your mail server is only bound to your loopback interface. What mail server are you using? If you're using sendmail, then read the faq at sendmail.org to see your solution.
