Hello,
I have searched freshmeat, sourceforge, linux.org/apps
but I still cannot locate a simple Qmail log reporter
which can give me just 4 simple things...
<from> <to> <delivery Status> <date time>
Can someone with more exp help me on this please ...
Thanks.
Poonam

Try using nmap to scan the ports and see if any unncessary services are
not running in the background. Also check the CPU usage and see if
someone is using your machine to launch an attack or do some simple
number crunching.

I never did that! The Computer Centre of my University had a Unix Lab
with that kind of a set-up and I never got around to know how it was
done coz our SysAd was somewhat unapproachable :p
Anyway, if you give me some time I'll try to get this info from
them. Aah! those VT100s - guys who worked in there were a respected
lot! That's where I got hooked on to Linux.
That makes me think of getting the word of PRC to AMU too. There's an
Aligarh Linux Users' Group out there which was quite active till I
left around the same time last year. I hope they're more active now.

61.11.13.154 sounds like it might be from Dishnet DSL IP block... this
means the actual user will be NATted from behind this IP.
Anyhow if you've only been logging in with SSH your root password was
never sent unencrypted. Hence its pretty unlikely that anyone could
have gotten your password in just two tries! A cracker clever enough
to launch a man-in-the-middle attack or something would also know
enough to erase the logs and cover his/her tracks!
I think it may be a false alarm. Just check if the admin (or you!)
logged in from a cable connection somewhere!
Hi luggers,
Can anybody suggest me a appication for
sendind newsletters to huge no of mail id's and
monitor the activity of newsletters ?
Happy Hacking :)

Hi,
I am sorr for the delay in replying.
I have myself been to very few meetings. I have
forwarded you mail to Navin Dhanuka who has beeen a
regular
navindhanuka(a)mac.com
Also, you can contact people like Phillip Tellis who
is a regular for both the mail list and the meetings
The last time i remember trevor warren was telling us
about his attempts or plans to make a different kinds
of distributions to increase the awareness of linux
amongst Engineering students.
We do a lot of stuff and its quite informal.

Accounting & Linux gr8 saswata u have come far.
If you wish to add an "Accounting Software" to your list of

Thats nice ... but let me warn you it will be a lot of time if you
wanna see accounting on Linux. If you have hours to give explain
standards and protocols ... perhaps lead a team, I am sure people
will help you out.
As a suggestion why not go to sourceforge.net and find out whats
already there.

Read "Maximum Linux Security" by Anonymous (Techmedia)
and "Securing and Optimizing Linux" http://www.tldp.org/LDP/solrhe/Securing-Optimizing-Linux-RH-Edition-v1.3
You may also try nntp://comp.os.linux.security but you'd find a lot of
fluff there.

That's cool! How do you do that? Btw your reasoning is valid,
but that website gave no reason/explanation for doing that.
