buster package in ubuntu but not in stretch

there's a package present in debian buster and ubuntu but is unavailable in stretch. is there any way to modify the /etc/apt/sources.list to make it available under stretch too?

debian : kertex : packaging and maintenance

anyone here with debian package building skills be interested in developing a package for kertex (whole)? this "can be" paid work and i would need a quotation on the amount for not just building the package but also it's long term (10 years) maintenance. also, the package should be high quality enough to be accepted into the default debian repositories. do write back either off-list or on it. ~mayuresh

custom linux distribution : building : any takers?

hi, i need a custom linux distribution for personal (desktop) use. i currently lack the time to do it myself, hence this request to the list. please note, i haven't used the term 'gnu' because there won't be any 'gnu' tools used, though it will need to be built around the linux kernel. this "can be" paid work, but i can't offer large sums of money. :-) feel free to respond on or off-list. best, ~mayuresh

options for a lilo based distro?

hi, i grew up with the lilo bootloader, and find grub to be quite hairy. i am currently running debian, and wondered if there are still any linux distributions out there running with lilo. the first thought that came to mind was slackware, and would like to know of anyone still using it and if slackware still utilizes lilo or has migrated to grub. thanks, ~mayuresh

Please find the agenda of the meeting attached. The Supreme Court of India in the Puttaswamy judgement recommended the need to examine and put into place a robust regime for data protection. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had constituted a Committee of Experts to deliberate on a data protection framework for India, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Justice B.N. Srikrishna. On 27 July 2018, this expert committee submitted its Repor <http://meity.gov.in/writereaddata/files/Data_Protection_Committee_Report-co…>t <http://meity.gov.in/writereaddata/files/Data_Protection_Committee_Report-co…> along with a draft bill titled The Personal Data Protection Bill, 2018 <http://meity.gov.in/writereaddata/files/Personal_Data_Protection_Bill%2C201…> to the Ministry of Information and Technology (MeitY). On 14 August, the Ministry issued a call for comments <http://meity.gov.in/content/feedback-draft-personal-data-protection-bill> on the draft Bill to be submitted by 30 September 2018. The data protection framework would have immense implications for the privacy rights of citizens and for the open Internet. It is important to deliberate whether the draft bill is in tune with the privacy rights of citizens as laid down in the Puttaswamy judgment as well as the expectations of various stakeholders. Unable to switch between AMD drivers to get vulkan support

Hello, I needed some help with graphics drivers I have a AMD graphics card (r9 280x) I've been using the x86-video-ati driver but I also have the amdgpu driver installed. I wanted vuklan support so I need to use the amdgpu driver. How can I switch between what driver I'm using? lspci -k shows in using the "radeon" driver (which is the ATI driver) I've tried adding MODULES=(amdgpu) in my /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and running mkinitcpio -p linux but the kernel still uses the radeon driver. Also I'm using arch and I've installed the xorg-drivers group. I actually tried uninstalling the xf86-video-ati package but even after uninstalling that I was still stuck on the same driver. (I've tried rebooting) Let's say I also install the amdgpu-pro proprietary driver. Is there a way I can switch between the various drivers and how do I check what driver I'm running? Note: I'm checking vulkan support with vkmark and trying DXVK support in Lutris (with wine) -- Dhruva Lokegaonkar dhruva(a)lokegaonkar.in
