Just one problem I have a default gateway since I use the laptop at office too. wvdial/pppd does not put in a default route for the new connection. I tried the defaultroute option in the /etc/ppp/options and /etc/ppp/peers/wvdial files but no avail. Would be most grateful. Never used wvdial but will learn now of course. So basically I treat it just as a standard modem is that it? Need review of Motorola Axxx series cellphones

Hi all, I am planning to buy a new cell. Someone suggested A1010 which seemed to be excellent value for money. I searched some more and found A1000/A768i/A1200 with comparable features and Linux OS. IIRC, jtd has an A768i. I wanted some review of these mobiles. Required features: More or less what A1010 has (www.motorola.com/mot/doc/5/5146_MotDoc.PDF) Budget: 12-13k Any comments about A768i/A1200 ? Tata Cable Broadband

Hi, Has anyone used Tata's Cable Broadband (not Tata DSL). I have been using Exatt Cablenet all this while and I am really bugged with their downtime. Tata has just recently launched cable broadband in my locality and the introductory schemes are really cheap. However I am concerned about the authentication mechanism. It seems that they are using some browser based authentication scheme so I doubt if there is any problem in connecting through linux. Playing VCDs in Ubuntu.

Hello All, I gave one more shot at trying to play VCDs and DVDs in Ubuntu 6.10 on my desktop. All instructions given on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats were followed but still VCDs would not be opened in Totem. A DVD would play upto the menu but the 'Play' link that comes after that on the screen would not come and the screen would simply remain blank. From the net a useful page was found http://alternativenayk.wordpress.com/2007/01/20/playing-vcds-on-ubuntu-linu… Using apt, gxine and gxineplugins packages were downloaded and that finally helped in playing VCDs as well as DVDs. Gxine has good audio settings options that allow you to set audio levels in order to avoid distortion. The same procedure was followed in the Acer 2428 laptop running Edubuntu 6.06 LTS. I am able to get videos for VCDs as well as DVD but no sound. The system too did not have sound so some ALSA packages were downloaded based on their look and feel. System sound is up but no movie sounds. I am able to record my voice using 'Sound Recorder' but the playback is faint. Could anyone help me out on this?
