well, the date is not tentative. we are indeed meeting on 16th. I just came back from Dr. Nagarjuna's office after a discussion on a seminar I am giving in a school of Indian Education society where I studied. (for every one's information I was in king george which is a normal school for the regular people not for the blind.) so I am any ways giving a seminar not on accessibility as some may think, it is to push gnu/linux into the school. coming back to the point. I have the agenda and I actually want to know if attachments can be sent on this list? we are basically going to, 1. discuss what information we are going to give out to a blind person and in what way. also what information we will give for the commertial aspect like tourists. 2. consider the avinues of possible technologies to be used. the conditions are, a. easy to use from the blind person's perspective. b. easy to implement and to get up fast after failure because it is going to be some kind of a system which will be heavily depended by blind people and others too. c. cost effective. this comes in terms of power and setup along with amount of technical complexcities we put in or don't put in. at the start we can use very simple systems and then slowly upgrade. d. bring the commertial aspect to it by exploring such things that will not hamper the accessibility. we need to take an overview of all this and explore the possibilitys. may be we will need a couple or more such brain storming sessions but that's ok. in addition to above points we have some thing additional which has just come up recently (and you people can blaim or flaim me for that and send police) *smile*. I will bring the demo of the scree reader on windows so that we have a look on what makes it the most well used and popular one. we will discuss about the k desktop based accessibility and the project for developing the screen reader for that. I hope the ajenda is clear, if not feel free to email back. Krishnakant.
