worth a try - in the old days switching harddisks never worked in linux, but recently (actualy about 3 years back it succeeded - that too with redhat 9)
You will face problems only if you install on ide and then switch to sata / scsi cause you need a different initrd.
Well actually you cant do that except by dd from an ide drive to a sata drive, and then try to boot from sata.
