But then there is no gaurantee that an IItian with a certain % and number of degrees attached to his/her name will perform exceptionally well and better than someone who did not receive a formal college education. Ofcourse probability wise, the IItian is a safer bet.
Companies are free to come up with whatever criteria they deem fit. In the absence of anti-discriminatory laws and its implementation, there is not bar from setting whatever criteria an organization deems fit. Same way employees are free to reject a company based on the criteria as determined by them. There is no gaurantee that a company that pays them the most or is closer to their house may be the best company fo them.
Even the Central Govt as well as the Armed forces have age limits. Some employers tend to not hire female workers with kids as they feel they will not give in the "extra" time that has become a norm now. Some employers will hire only females (like secretary/typist/receptionist) kind of job. and so on....
