Hi Dipali,
If you have forgot the root password for ur system then its a little bit of head ache but dont worry you can still get to change the new password. If you are using RedHat Linux then just do the following steps.
I hope that you have a rescue boot disk created at the time of installation or atleast have the RedHat installation CDs. Boot through the CD or floppy drive and at the boot prompt type
linux single and press enter
this will take you to single user mode from where you can change the root password to a new one and reboot the system and log in to your root account as usual.
If you are using LILO as your boot loader then simply type
linux single at the boot prompt and the rest will be same.
I hope this fixes ur prob.
Note: This is considered as a potential security flaw in Linux System provided the mischeavous guy has physical access to the system.
