Hi,
We at E-dutainment Unlimited and our sister concern, Redstreet productions have been thinking of using blender as our primary 3d software. But we have our apprehensions regarding the shift.
firstly, we don't have enough material to train ourselves, as well as train our artists. Can that be arranged by some organisation ?
AFAIK there is no organization offering professional support for Blender. However Blender's website http://www.blender.org/education-help/video-tutorials/ has some great in-depth video tutorials. Play these tutorials on a projector and loudspeakers in a group and after every tip or topic discussed, pause the video and try out the same on your pcs installed with Blender. Those already trained in 3D animation will not find it very difficult. I have watched some of the beginner videos and they are quite nice.
The road block IMHO will not be the software or technology, but the employees who don't really care to learn a new software unless the management or boss steers them towards it. Group video training sessions with samosas, kachoris and cold drinks should help.
