this is Just for information purposes for all those having vague problems with SiS 6326 cards & Xfree86 4 & up. most of the cards sold here come with 8mb memory. In actuality this chip seems to be able to access only 4mb ( those who have "RTFM" 'ed :-) ... will know this. )
U'll have 2 -3 options.... one (most obvious ).. use the VideoRam = 4096. ( This option is ESSENTIAL for Xfree86 4.0 & up .. not sure abt. 4.1 + though ) u'll need to explicitly limit the memory to <= 4mb for these cards ... the older x-servers detected only till 4mb for the sis anyway.
another . dont use the sis driver , use the "vesa" driver. ;-) .. but when u got option 1 why use this ?
Also -> anyone using the default PCQ / RHL 7.1 setup.. check 2 see if U r actually using the 4.0.3 server. It seems to use 3.3.6 by default . the rpm is there inside the CD.
