openerp / tinyerp does not come up as anternate to tally. Tally is a simple accounting software not constrained by erp norms like data authenticity, audit trails, interlocking controls and even data integrety. Openerp is a much more complex software and not a substitute for tally.
just like linux is not a substitute for windows - it is far far more.
In the normal sense, an erp is mot an accounting software. Its much more. And due to that it can't take place of accounting software. It will only work where the users WANT something much more than accounting.

No it does not work that way. ERP makes accounting a pain for those used to tally / simply accounting / peach tree type of software They dont want to be pinned down or constrainted by the requirements that the erp puts on them
