IIRC, opendns was made for home users rather than service providers. I've seen speedups and improved reliability when I started using it a couple of months ago (my ISP's DNS servers had conked out).

umm no not really.. they encourage everyone to use it.. including ISPs.

A small correction though on using opendns with a mail server. You could use opendns if you simply use RBLs (DNSBL) as per http://blog.opendns.com/category/dnsbl/ i'm doubtful on the URIBL / RHSBL part though.
