me having probs in loading lilo. installed win98 SE yesterday on one partition and the RH7.1 . when i start it just shows an L (i.e. trying to start lilo) and hangs. what can be
the
problem?
Dear Abhishek, What Ananth P. said is right. LILO is not properly installed on your m/c. Even I had problem on similar line. Which I have solved. Just follow these simple steps & your problem will be solved. 1. Boot into windows & type fdisk/mbr - This will clear your MBR. 2. Now boot into Linux with your Linux bootable floppy which you must have created during the installation. 3. Login as root & type 'lilo' on your terminal. This will give you message, 'windows added, linux added' by installing new LILO on your MBR. If you do not get this message type lilo -L 4. That's all. Now reboot your m/c & LILO will appear on your screen.
If your problem does not solve by this way, I'll tell you other way round.
NOTE :- Thanks to all the peoples who are helping me conteniously to solve my problems & making me able to help others.
Happy Linuxing, Thanks & Worm Regards, SAMEER :))
