Hi Guys, Has anyone tried to update the Kernel. I want to try but dont know if the kernels available in Kernel.org will work on my RH9 system. I want to download and install a new kernel in my system and don't know how to go about it. Any one who know how to do it is welcome.
Thanx,
Richard
A very interesting part about linux is that you can have more than one kernels installed at the same time ;). Anyway, since you're using RH, I would recommend using a Redhat Kernel RPM. You can get it from redhat.com ( dunno the exact address ). Those guys modify the kernel a lot so it becomes difficult to configure and install a vanilla kernel ( i.e. from kernel.org ) lest you're a linux guru. BTW why do you want to update the kernel? Any special reasons? Security issues? or just to keep up with the times?
Regards,
Dinesh.
