Hi all,
I am using Hathway broadband internet connection(256kbps) on my Debian (Sarge) machine.
I use KDE3.3 desktop & use knetload to monitor network traffic, rate of connection(kbps),etc. Also I have installed firewall using "firestarter". The public access is disabled to all services.
Whenever I start the modem, knetload shows non-stop incoming data (about 5-10 kbps). However, there is no outgoing data. I wonder from where this data is coming.
I have closed almost all services on my machine. See output of "netstat" below-
<QUOTE> ROOT:/home/nilray# netstat -tuap Active Internet connections (servers and established) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 *:discard *:* LISTEN 2571/inetd tcp 0 0 localhost.localdom:smtp *:* LISTEN 2279/exim4 tcp6 0 0 *:ssh *:* LISTEN 2593/sshd udp 0 0 *:discard *:* 2571/inetd <UNQUOTE>
Can anybody suggest casue of this influx & how to control it?
