I pref Drupal to WP. http://www.drupal.org
I've been using Emacs-Wiki + Planner + Blosxom.. The editing and publishing is completely offline., the remote site can be updated using sitecopy. I'm an Emacs freak., so.. this is the most convenient approach for me. :)
