Hi,
I need a wireless router for network setup at my home. Basically
for internet connectivity for 2 laptops and my desktop and for occasional other extra devices with wifi capabilities if and when required.
Now what I want to know is - what would be good wifi router which could work across a 2 BHK flat and also work when the laptop/device is in an opposite flat, separated just by a passage and walls. The passage width is not more than couple of meters.
I am looking at this [1] model, any suggestions? Thanks in advance. [1] http://shopping.rediff.com/shop/productdisplay.jsp?LINKSYS-WRT54GL-Wireless-Router-AP-Support-Linux&prrfnbr=10240188&menbr=38477&frompg=WRT54GL Cheers!

I have been using Netgear's WGR614 for almost 4 years now and would recommend that. Its rarely switched off. This router has given excellent performance. I have used it for upto 6 wifi systems / devices together. The router is placed in ground floor and provides wireless connectivity on the rooms in first floor also though sometimes the speed drops to as low as 1 Mbps.
I think you should be able to get it for about Rs. 1600 making it value for money. The rate quoted on the link given by you appears to be very high. A better guide to hardware prices in India would be the following web site:

This particular model supports 802.11 b/g standards similar to the Linksys product mentioned by you.
