I am configuring samba server on linux PCQuest 7.1 based on redhat. My smb.conf goes like this ----

[data] guest ok = yes .......some more lines............
I think by configuring like this anybody should be able to see the linux server on windows domain and see the contents without asking for login and password. I am able to see the server in network neighbourhood but am not able to see "data" in it. It is asking for login and password.
Please let me know if I might be neglecting any configuration elsewhere.....
Your Windows box is set up for using encrypted passwords, but by default Samba on Linux uses cleartext passwords. You need to set up either the Windows box to use cleartext passwords (not recommended) or else set up Samba to use password encryption. Check the Samba documentation, where this is explained in detail (typically /usr/share/samba<version> on Red Hat).
