Finally, Ramnikbhai can try out linux without |having to "touch" his Existing Setup (TM).
These run-linux-off-a-cd distros seem very promising, and they're brilliant for showing off a Linux system but in my opinion they fall short of helping a transitioner.
A more promising discovery (for transitioners) is TopologiLinux (http://hem.passagen.se/svto/tlinux/), which actually installs a full fledged Slackware distro as a file on your existing FAT32 or NTFS drive.
No need to repartition. It doesn't even install a bootloader. It just creates a file in your Windows system called base.img in which it loop mounts an ext3fs or whatever, on top on the current NTFS. Once you're booted into linux, you don't even know that you're running from NTFS. Performance is pretty good too, on my PIII 500 128M test machine, with Win2K Prof.
Another great use for this kind of distro is for some who would want to install linux at work, but can't because you're not allowed to repartition and install 'another' OS. The best thing about this distro is, if you don't like it, you can just Shift-Del the file from your Windows drive.
Hope this helps all the Ramnikbhai-s out there.
Zainul.
