you need to edit /etc/fstab too.
The grub entries point to the partition that has the kernel but what about your installation itself that is installed for the older partition. I have not done this before so *just for experimenting*
I do it quite often.
, create at least the same number of partitions so that your /dev/hdax for installation remains the same for both disks. BTW what about your old disk. How does it detect your new hw?
