Your background? It will help us to know if u are computer savvy. If u are GNU/Linux (GNU/Linux is what u need to run Linux) is far easier to install and use than anything else invented on earth. If not install requires a little basic info (u should have known what u purchased anyway) about the hardware. Also be aware in the real world some hardware (like winmodems and winprinters) do not work too well. U will know how u have been fleeced by M$ et al as u go along the swantra software path.
