Hi Gopi,
There should be no problem with a simple package like cron on either of the distros.
Can u post or send me the logs of your exercise, u could
script -a $HOME/crontrbl.txt
or enable logging in putty.
run the date command during the excersise after each step you perform.
Let us know the results if u have already solved the problem.
