Wow! I didn't knew there were 8 open source business models. I agree that that a hybrid combination of these models will have to be used to make a business successful.
I have recently started working on PHP projects on my own. So I am interested in applying business models to practical use so that a economically viable business can be setup.
So my questions with regards to business models are -
- What is this group (if I may call it that) aiming at?
As per my understanding the aim is to make Free Software a part of mainstream business strategy. To understand the existing ideas of Free Software business models and to build upon those ideas to generate better and economically viable business models.
- What are proposals to take the existing body of work forward?
As Trevor has mentioned earlier in this thread a contest can be organized on framing Business models based on Free Software. Irrespective of how successful that contest is we should take steps to create an environment where these business models are developed further.
- How can we make all this relevant in the Indian scenario?
That's the most important point :-))
