HDFC is well within their rights to support/deny support to whatever platform it wishes.
They are not. ALL banks in India function under certain RBI acts which deem banks to be a public service. So they cannot do ANYTHING which prevents an Indian citizen from accessing their services or charge arbitarily for services. Remember the spat about charging for monthly statements and minimum balance for savings accounts.
If you have a problem with their service then change banks ( and make a lot of noise while doing so ;-) ).
Agreed. Voting with the wallet is a very potent tool.
I doubt if petitions work at all. The best you can do urge like-minded HDFC customers to leave too and make sure the bank knows the reason.
Make sure the petition includes the reasons why they should support OPEN STANDARDS.
