Hello,
Our current domain name ``ilug-bom.org.in'' expires on <28-Feb-2006>, and will not be renued this time around, due to administrative problems with registration of .IN domain names.
What administrative problem?
there seems to be a deadwall on the office side. the email you send to get the domain transfer happens smoothly, after that there is a procedure to transfer the domains from ncst to a private party. ncst will do the trasfer only after the person who holds the domain sends a fax with some kind of a key (which they never send me despite reminders).
There really IS such a key. In most cases the registrar is supposed to issue you one as soon as you register or transfer the domain to some other registrar. Most do it while transfering.
I don't see any reason for forfeiting this domain because someone fouled up at NCST!
I had several conversations with them. May be I am missing some thread. If any of you know clearly what to do, I could still get the transfer done before Dec 31st,
The Admin section of the WHOIS shows your name Dr Nagarjuna. If you could prove your identity to them over fax/person (Copy of Passport or any Govt Issued ID does), they should still be able to send you the key. Also make sure that you get all email directed to postmaster@mm.ilug-bom.org.in at least till the time the transfer take place successfully.
last date for transfers. meanwhile we thought it is safe to have another domain to continue the work.
OK, It is good to have plan B. I really like the new domain, but breaking already existing links on the Web worries me. It will be nice if we could run on this domain itself.
