I am really happy with Thumbnail Printer now (http://www.andreasmeinl.de/).It generates the pages for printing from a directory of images...with various options on layout.(these features being my real need now). It has not crashed with a directory of over 300 images.
flphoto also does this, and works well with jpeg images, with friendly tools also---but seems to crash with importing a large directory of png images..I am in contact with the developer about it....
